    Cracked head?

(Cheap fix): Go to Harbor Freight if you have one near by and get a cylinder pressure gauge. Its a good idea to know your cylinder PSI anyway and the gauge is about $20 bucks. That way you can know what the other side is doing before you crack the top end open. Yes I have done only one side in a...

    AC isn’t cold

I just finished charging an AC system on my daughters rig. “Symptoms” her AC wasn’t cold like yours. The clutch kept clicking on and off like it was trying but couldn’t get a charge going. Didn’t sound right ether like is was dry until the clutch clicked off. So if it’s not a fuse or mechanical...

    Codes and no start

Great, Glad to hear it. I bought a perfect 01 Disco for 1200.00 from a soccer mom A while back, because Her mechanic couldn’t find the problem. Same thing, a crank sensor. They get pretty hot where that are located and they fail. good catch.

    Discovery 2003 Cruise Control ECU

Copy and past this into your web browser. I think I saw these for about 70.00 is was OEM 99 thru 04 listing on the website. hope this helps...

    Codes and no start

SO it was a faulty ECM? that would be a good reason for multi spark failure across both coils. Typically I have found most of the Discovery's up for sale cheap are electrical issues and the local mechanic has plugged one new part in after the other until the owner gets tired of paying for it...

    Cracked head?

Most likely the head gasket. At least you can start there. Pull a spark plug and blow air in look for bubbles in the coolant. If it is pushing coolant out the tail pipe like you say, it should push bubbles back into the coolant. May have to find top dead for each cylinder so valves are closed...

    Codes and no start

Definitely electrical, because its happening on both coil packs start with spark plug wires " check them in the dark if they are grounding you will see the spark jumping. If not than check your coil packs. P1300 is a mulit spark failure code, P0300 is kind of the same, but can range from spark...

I Challenge Anyone to Solve this Discovery No Spark Issue!

Ohm out your cam shaft positioning sensor and see if the wires are good. I went back and read the beginning thread and your problem started and stopped and restarted when you messed with the cam shaft positioning sensor. 1) are the wires insulated? 2) is the plug broken or wires not fitting...

    no heat, please help!

That bubbeling sound you hear from the glove box sounds like air in your coolant from a blown head gasket. Mine sounded the same way when I drove around with a blown head gasket, and it heated up until I changed the radiator. I was replacing the coolant through my cylinder with air from the...

I Challenge Anyone to Solve this Discovery No Spark Issue!

Ok sorry for he AC DC misinformation. 1.24 sounds a little low, mine was about 3.4V but if hte signal was consistent then you are getting an accurate pulse. Lets assume that the CPS is working because the ECM does not need much voltage to time the engine, and lets remember its a computer so...

I Challenge Anyone to Solve this Discovery No Spark Issue!

Did you make sure the ground was on the CPS side that bolts to the bell housing? Not that it wouild matter really. Just trying to eliminate all issues. I have heard that sometimes even new CPS fail. Wipe the oil off and take it back to the parts store and get another one. Have you made a...

I Challenge Anyone to Solve this Discovery No Spark Issue!

Also after you hook up the ground. Try the voltage meter, making sure you are set in the correct setting. One way to make sure it is on the correct setting; (if your not sure) switch the dial around to see if your on the correct setting as your testing the CPS while cranking the engine. Remember...

I Challenge Anyone to Solve this Discovery No Spark Issue!

Yes, Regardless of the electrical system the CPS is just a mini generator, so it will create a current when the engine turns over. The CPS sends the current to the ECM to time the engine. It doesnt need the battery to create the small amount of voltage that the ECM needs to sense the position...

The spacer is part of the ground. Alum, conducts electricity so just bolt the part up and it will conduct the grounding. Like I said if you are in doubt you can install a jumper wire from the bolt to the frame somewhere.
