    So........tested the Amazon replacement brake switch I installed a few months back. No continuity in either the brake light or cruise control circuits (there are 4 plug contacts). Replaced it with a 'superior' Amazon replacement ($CAD 43 instead of $95 OEM) and after a 400km road trip the faults...

    No, alternator is OEM, original. Should check its output directly, but working on the car is difficult at present

    Spoke too soon Same codes back with a vengeance. Will try recharging the battery out of the vehicle as suggested. ABS connections at the module seem okay. Is there a way to definitively check if its an ABSmodule issue?

    Huh, looks like the LR Gods took pity on me. Had a look at the ABS module and pressed on all the plugs to make sure none were loose (all seemed okay). Voila! All dash warning lights gone (they were resetting after engine off and then coming on again after 10 mins driving). Fingers crossed........

    Ah okay, I stand corrected. On my third battery in 8yrs of ownership, so strange that this issue has not occurred previously, but hey ** i.e. time before last it kept draining flat and had to boost before I replaced it. But worth confirming as you say

    12.4v engine off, 14.2v engine idling, 14.2v engine idling with headlights on, AC on, radio on. So battery looks okay. Faults are still intermittent, so will see if they resolve themselves after clearing codes

    Huh....... that's interesting. There were two brake switch codes which is odd. I had occasional hesitation where I had to press the start button a couple of times to start the car several months back. Replaced the start button and brake switch with Amazon versions........... still have...

    These days the cost of an oil filter from LR is comparable to e.g. Fram, so I tend to go with LR. Never had problems with Fram. Used to get Mann or Mahle that were fine too. The Wix filter coming apart???? I figure cheap and oil filter is not a good combo

    Hey thanks, The alternator is original, so is on borrowed time. I have the inevitable oil leak down the front of the engine on the LHS (valve covers / timing chain covers?) - have been monitoring it re. killing the alternator. Will have another peak.

    Replacing the accessory drive belt?

    I got a similar tool to the one above off amazon. It worked fine. Just take your time. You may need the help of a stout screwdriver to provide some additional leverage but its not that hard a job. Just take care to not damage the new belt. If your are doing that I would consider also replacing...
