Very interesting, thanks. So the one you drove was an R-dynamic model? If I understand the lineup correctly the much more common S model doesn't have dynamic mode.
Particularly curious about how a Velar with air suspension drives compared to the LR4. I've been very happy with my LR4, but like the looks of the Velar. The dealer actually gave me a Velar as a loaner the last time I had my LR4 serviced, but it was a 4 cylinder without air suspension, and I...
If you change the display units to kilometers using the standard settings menus on the vehicle, it will display the digital speedo and show you what it looks like. In kilometers of course. :) When you change it back to mph it will disappear.
So is HD Radio turned off by default on all LR4's, or was that an oversight at the factory or something? I don't think I've ever really noticed whether I'm getting HD or not, but I have an IID tool so I can turn it on if need be.
Mine is a '12 so I can't say for sure, but I don't think they changed the fog light assembly. Not sure on the earlier models but I'm pretty sure the HID's on the '14+ are bi-xenons.
It's not difficult, and is discussed somewhere back toward the first part of this thread. Once you pop off the trim rings, which are easy to pry off, just pay attention to where the screws holding the assembly go when you remove them (there are 3 screws but 4 holes IIRC, so you can put them...
The Philips LED's linked above say they're plug and play replacements for H11 bulbs, but how does that work given the little harness/ballast that is shown in the pic of them? Has anyone actually used these on an LR4?
Interesting comments, thanks. Whether it's "intelligent" or just set up that way, the fact that it seems to have more rear bias than one would expect makes me wonder if it might not stop faster with more front bias. I am not impressed with how well it stops in a panic or near full-on braking...
Hadn't thought of that possibility. Well, whatever the reason it sounds like it's not unusual on the LR4. I was mainly just wondering if the tech who measured them made a mistake, and it sounds like the answer is probably not.
Thanks for the reply. I understand the weight wearing brakes faster. I was just under the impression that with the weight transferring forward as you brake physics dictated that more of the weight is borne by the front axle and therefore front brakes, which has been my experience with other...
Anyone had this happen? My '12 has 26k miles, and at its recent service they said the brake pads are at 8mm front (fine) and 5mm rear (will need replacement in the near future). It seems odd to me that the rears would wear out before the fronts, unless the brake bias on these things is set up...
