I have placed an order for a 2014 Lux that will not come until early April. The money I gave them to make the order is refundable. I have a few weeks to make sure this is what I want to do and the one thing that is not settling with me is the wire mesh in the heated windshield. I spent a good part of the day yesterday and in the evening driving around. Daytime was passable. Night time was a pain. Whereever there were lights (headlights, signs) the windshield looked smudged.

They are now offering the option in the Evoque and other models to get the Climate Package without the heated windshield.

Has anyone replaced the heated windshield with a non-heated one? If so, how well did it work?

Same here. Mine is perfectly clear so the smudge must be a result of lack of cleaning. I could not imagine the truck without it.

It takes a little time to get used to. Sometimes I notice it at night or in snow in daylight.

It really bothered my wife for awhile, but she doesn't mention it much anymore.

I live in Colorado also and have not had a windshield scraper in my car since I bought the LR4. I love the heated windshield. I keep my LR in the garage so the only time it ices over is when I am at work.

After a week of driving, you won't notice it.

Top-3 feature of an LR4. Silly to remove it. I can't say I've ever noticed mine, except when it's working.
