2012 Sport replacing passenger axle

I had to replace the passenger axle as the threads got stripped. I managed to get the axle out and now am trying to insert the new one. most of the shaft is in but its not locking in place. Im wodering if theres a trick to doing it or is it basically keep pushing until it locks in.

Tell me this i was out driving it slowly to make sure i got the axle in a few times around my neighborhood lets call it 1.5 miles is that enough to know or should i do more?

If it has seated and the brakes are attached the axle should not go anywhere.
