Hey all,

After seeing my post to the fullfatrr forum 'Front knuckle cracking' sticky thread about my '21 having the same issue, I was contacted yesterday by George, the lead investigator for the '14-'17 recall at the NHTSA. He stated that he knew the problem was larger than the current recall but didn't have any 'proof'. Enter me - he found my post and tracked down my complaint in the NHTSA database, and we talked for about 30 min on what we can do to get this recall expanded.

HE NEEDS OUR HELP - he needs anyone who has had this issue outside of the current recall range to either A. file a complaint on the NHTSA website, B. reach out to him directly, or C. PM me with your details and I'll get it to him. He is very limited in his 'scope' of reaching out to folks who don't have a complaint on file, so he needs us to reach out to him. To date the are (2) other instances of this failure on '18-'21 models; me and someone with a '20.

Keep all receipts, pictures, documentation about this issue. If you would like to reach out directly, his contact info is:
George Jones - [email protected] - I also have his work and cell numbers if anyone would like

If you don't want to reach out to him, you can PM me and I can share any details you have with him, or if it would be helpful for me to post my email, anyone could send me information that way.

Has been update to include an inspection of the front knuckle part numbers.
Mandatory knuckle replacement for the ones that fall under the specified part number.

When we talked, he hinted that he suspects JLR of hiding this problem across multiple part numbers which is why only the current range is 'affected'

Hello i was concern by this problem last summer 2025 (thread SAFETY RECALL N759–FRONT STEERING KNUCKLE CRACKING) but for JLR France when i ask them, the answer was : there is no problem there is no recall in France and my 2014 RR sdv8 20" is too old to be concern. In France, nobody talk about this subject (and my local service repair has no information about it). I have always the old cracked knuckle in my garage (it was the front left). I join the quote of this repair if you are interested and if you want to share it. Have a nice day . BR

Absolutely @Kamino ! If you could email George as well, he is super interested in gathering the numbers cast into the original parts

Just received an email from George at the NHTSA - they have officially notified JLR that they opened an investigation for the recall to cover 2018-2021.5 L405 and L494 vehicles on top of the current recall for 2014-2017. This is the first step in extending the official recall through this body style.

The more people who submit a complaint on the NHTSA website (with pictures is a major plus), the more leverage we have to getting this to a recall status sooner than later.
