Maintenance vs repair. When/if the pump fails, it will be repaired. Proactively change it… not likely.

    Summer Tire (on-road/offroad) shopping

Go figure... By shopping by tire size and not vehicle type, on a number of websites, I discovered that the tires I want are available. I know many here like the Toyos... but I find them very lack lustre. Spongy when I don't want the sponge, noisy, downright lethargic on the road. And newly...

    Looking for LR4 Parts

Those scratch and dent repair guys, working out of their car are nothing short of amazing. When my xkr (aluminum body) was hit by a hail storm, it looked like a golf ball. The entire car. Its perfect now. And car dealers know how to find these guys.. But if you insist on going down the...

Is there a prize for the first one who guesses right? Without a stethoscope we are all shooting in the dark.

stethoscope time. I'm going for worn bearings on the generator. an idler pulley... the coupler on the S/C.

    Upgraded LED turn signal bulbs

Yes... I tried the bulbs (once) from other sources. They didn't last a year. Went to the dealer, got them at a discount... and with no-charge labour of installing. That was 2 years ago.

2015 LR4 126,000 miles What Preventive Maintenance to do next?

Tires, tires, tires. Tire air pressure: https://tiresize.com/pressure-calculator/ Additionally, read the section on differences between the different types of tires. Wheel fitment: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ pay attention to scrub angles, clearances and aspect ratios. LTs + lower...

    LR4 Summer 50/50 Tire Recs

P Zeros or Pilot Sports on an LR4?? Let alone capable of off-road?? Good luck with that. Glad you brought up the sp....s word. Those of us that really drive, in all the weather, in all the conditions, in all the terrain, pay attention to things like this: https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/...

    LR4 Summer 50/50 Tire Recs

So many highly rated choices. Read the reviews at tirerack.com. The Duellers, Trail-Terrains, TerrainContacts, are better than the opencountrys, in my mind. I'm still running the Pirelli scorpions A/Ts. Unfortunately they discontinued them.

    "Rust-proofing" treatment with Dinitrol

Very cool ! I wanted to find someone to do it for me… no luck. No one (including the dealer) wants the work. Annoys me actually as rust proofing is a scheduled maintenance item. Fwiw, not to the same extent, I used that which is used by the canadian military… corrosionfree.com

rough idle engine after reaching operating temperature

Sorry. really need codes. Easy adjustment in the carburetor days... but a sensor is reporting (or not) wrongful data to the ecm??

    2013 LR4 HSE V8

It was an unexpected expensive repair. But it did last 10 years... and unlike my previous habits, I use it more frequently now. After all, so many of the automated systems use it. Not that I use anything but the cruise control often.

Steering column switch not working to adjust steering column

All that means is that it is a previously assembled part via the dealer. If you want to fix this issue, inexpensively, you will need to take it apart and separate the electric motor from the assembly… if it is the motor. I’ve not ever heard of this situation before. My bet would have been on...

2015 LR4 126,000 miles What Preventive Maintenance to do next?

Again, also what many miss... LT tires must ALWAYS be properly inflated or you risk ruining the sidewall... P tires can be suitably deflated to accommodate traction on different terrains. Head on out and drive an F350, one with P tires, and the other with LTs. You'll see the difference...

2015 LR4 126,000 miles What Preventive Maintenance to do next?

Due to the extra stiff sidewalls, I find LT spec's tires to be like running with wooden wheels. If there is jarring over the bumps, this is the first thing I would fix. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding on the different tire load types. Your vehicle is not spec's to use LT tires...

2015 LR4 126,000 miles What Preventive Maintenance to do next?

Ride harshness. Lots of opinion on this. I concur that poly bushes are not as forgiving. Personally, I don't use them. However, start with the easy fixes?? 1. Are the tires as spec'd or LT tires? 2. Rightfully inflated or over inflated?

Limp mode. Can't get above 4,000 RPM

Think of AI as a friend. Sometimes friends need correcting. The AI response is only as good as its knowledge base . As for revving an engine, without load past 4000 rpm, that can’t be healthy for an engine.

Limp mode. Can't get above 4,000 RPM

Now that I think about it , you may be right. Doesn’t limp mode restrict the engine to 3000 rpm??
  23. I

Limp mode. Can't get above 4,000 RPM

Odd. Limp mode is a response from the ecm, as a result of a code. Unless, something is supposed to be reporting and its not. Of course I would expect a code in that situation too.
