This is what the OEM bracket looks like which the Hellas then connect to. This variation has the rise for the lights to fit over the plastic brush guard. The steel bracket ties-into the steel uprights which descend downward and bolt onto the frame. One note about the brackets and steel - the OEM...
This is what the OEM (Hella) Lights installed on my LR4 look like (with the "older" bumper / grill / lights and the plastic brush guard thing).
If folks were wondering about the brush guard, I can tell you all about it...but since it's no longer available I figure folks are not very interested.
I have the OEM lights which @Rover Range provided the instructions.
Yes, the install is very involved and not very fun. There are a lot of issues sorted out and as one person said on this forum a long time ago (when I did mine, which was 2015)... you pay $1000 to get the OEM wiring harness...
Bottom Line - as the tribe has mentioned already: the Compomotives were simply the first manufacturer to offer 18" wheels for the LR/DISCO 4.
When my LR4 rolled off the assembly line in early 2010, there were no 18" wheels available (yet). In fact, the conventional wisdom in those days was to...
@powershift - Thanks and indeed, one can find places to hang things most anywhere. That said, the more junk you rip out.......the more room (and things to hang stuff from) you shall find!
Yes - the pads and things will be getting a healthy does of copper anti-seize (my own stop squeak /...
Thanks @powershift and looks like we will find out if this is any better....
The plan right now is to do more in the engine bay, including using dynamat, on the underside of the hood.
I can post photos separately and if really helpful, maybe making a new thread for heat and sound proofing the...
Thanks @John Higgins ,
Great idea and unfortunately the front struts are already back in place and the control arms (and other junk) installed.
However, we will be hosing everything down (the struts, air lines, and blocks) with soapy water when powering the compressor and charging the lines...
Anyone have tips, tricks, and lessons from rebuilding brakes?
I am presently working on a full rebuild (new pistons, pins, washers, boots, brake lines, etc) on both front and rear sets.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this great thread and all the really detailed and helpful posts! This is a great example of the power of this forum!
For Us, this job was far, far simpler since we already had the whole engine bay torn down so for those curious where the pumps are on the engine (underneath their black protective hood/covers) and what it looks like - check out the box I drew indicating their location:
For some background - my LR4 is now 15 years old and has 90,000 miles (some pretty hard) on it. I have already had to replace one low pressure fuel pump (the gas tank sending unit) for reasons I suspect had to do with some bad fuel or something.
However, I have gotten better about using more...
Ladies and Gents,
This is a most excellent and useful thread - so many thanks for your contributions and initiative.
I will say that this thread, and some additional research, motivated me to replaced the HPFP's on my 2010 LR4 HSE (5.0L V8). This is only one piece of a much larger job, but...
And another correction - I just re-watched several of Nate's 4-part series on his DISCO 2 heavy bumper build on DIRT LIFESTYLE (here is episode 4):
So it was a 37" Goodrich T/S he was running (and needed the oversized wheel mount on the heavy bumper).
This tire was so heavy and high that...
Tribe,
Update for mid-May: New oil restrictors back in. Setting timing under weigh.
No issues putting the new plastic bits in (once they arrived) back in and bolting up. Everything went smoothly and like the 10 Nm suggests - finger tight.
Old ones just seem to be brittle and then snap /...
The Crankshaft is top dead center (so the bolt is upside-down here). All the chains are aligned to their marks and you can see the white marks on the camshaft chains aligned to the marks on the guides and the blue mark on the AUX Chain.
@rubbndubbn,
This is confusing. I have a video that my guys just took as they are setting the timing (for everything).
We pulled the whole engine out (Body On) in order to drop the oil pan, clean out everything at the bottom of the engine, and redo the AUX Chain and tensioners.
If you want...
