    stainless steel brake lines

@ttforcefed Funny enough, I had written a thread about this subject a long time ago: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/lr4-stainless-steel-brake-lines.23521/ That is the story of the LR3 stoptech brake lines I installed back in 2012-13 (may have been the first, and certainly the first on...

    Rear lower hatch sound deadening?

@jlach993 Following-up: any insights or lessons learned? I should begin my tailgate rebuild relatively soon and we plan on using dynamat for the tailgate door for deadening. Also, an interesting accessory I saw from the Team at Hyena Overland for the DISCO 2 (they are not carrying...

    djkaosone build thread

@djkaosone Great truck and thanks for putting this thread together. And very interesting portable water heater! Assuming my build goes well, I can put together another thread with my re-build if that would be helpful. Question for you - Do you have more information you are willing to share...

    Leaking power steering lines

@DaddyStovePipe Greetings and I hope all is well. I am rebuilding my power steering system and wondering how your project is going and if you have any lessons learned. The Attached photo is what the hoses and all looked like when we were tearing down the engine and whatnot (so we had...

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

Agree with @m_lars Especially issues with corrosion (not-to-mention weight). Perhaps of interest to folks looking at spare wheel stuff arms as well as heavy bumpers - I ran across the "Hyena Overland" company in a recent Mahker (https://mahker.com/ - it is a British company that rebuilds...

    Rear Ladders on LR4

l @Abram , I don't know if you are still looking for a ladder but I have a Voyager Rack ladder [https://voyagerracks.com/] and it served me well (until 2017 when I had to take it off due to the Italian highway police gave me a ticket because it allegedly obstructing the license plate). I also...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

Thanks @Rendak Yikes. My vote goes for a rebuild but to state the obvious (my superpower) - you will need to get to what the problem is before ripping anything open. In terms of cost - benefit: I can't tell you what is best for you and your situation. What I can say is that I don't think...

    Diagnostic Trouble Code: B1A85-96 (28)

Thanks @Rover Range Photo below of my windshield with stickers; unsure if those could case the diffusion. Also unsure if the AFS is functioning now or just locked into the center position due to the DTC.

@ Powershift - I can only see this on the reader - there are no errors displayed.

    Diagnostic Trouble Code: B1A85-96 (28)

Thanks @Jimmy Brooks and @Rover Range ! And I did have to put an aftermarket windshield in a long time ago...not realizing it would cause any problems like this. A follow up question for @Rover Range : I assume this means that the AFS is disabled and the auto windshield does not work because...

Should I be concerned? What is this hose?

Out of curiosity, on this particular subject, does the gang think that there any interest in a thread about LR4 breather pipes? I ask because I was most surprised to find out while working on my major rebuild project that the transmission, front differential, and transfer case / gearbox all...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

Thanks for your note and follow-up @Rendak . Perhaps I lost the plot or am just thick...but what is your conclusion? A loose lower radiator hose would not drain coolant into your Engine sump.....so I am trying to connect that hose with your oil pan.

    Diagnostic Trouble Code: B1A85-96 (28)

Thanks @Rover Range - No and Yes. I don’t notice anything in particular regarding "ambient light" but I don’t really know what this sensor does. Something worth noting, however, is that I have another consistent fault which may be related: "HCMB—Headlamp. U0415-00. Invalid data received from...

    Diagnostic Trouble Code: B1A85-96 (28)

Tribe, I am looking for some assistance with a consistent DTC I am receiving using my GAP Tool when running diagnostics. It is from the IPC—Instrument Panel, DTC # B1A85-96 (28): "Ambient light sensor circuit component failure – internal failure." Image from the GAP tool below. The workshop...

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

For Point Two: Reach out to @avslash on this forum (who I referred to) - https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/so-you-want-an-auxiliary-fuel-tank-for-your-lr4.30633/ I guess there are a couple folks with that modification. Some options -...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

Right - things are off. Below are two photos of the engine bay that particular day. We pulled everything out (and eventually even the engine itself in order to clean the oil pan and change the AUX chain and whatnot) so we went really deep in this thing. So to do all of that, the job takes...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

You mean the level of effort to get to that block (obviously I have the V8), with those head gaskets, with those heads (valves with the camshaft facing side as well as cylinder facing side)?

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

@powershift That (back end "snow angel" in the dirt) has happened to me too - only in deep sand (so no risk of breaking anything down there in the wheel well). My fault (as usual): I basically dug myself into the sand. So you bring up a couple good points and advocacy for the "rear tire...

    Increased Performance

Dear @BigBriDogGuy Great thread and excellent topic - so I am resurrecting / stealing this thread. I am doing a rebuild (almost a complete overhaul) on my 2010 LR4 HSE (HD) with 90,000 miles (some hard). We have reassembled the entire engine...and she lives! We are nowhere near done but...

    Increased Performance

The Tactical sliders are great. I have been using them for years and they hold up well, also act as bash guards / sill protectors, look great, and you can even jack from them. Only problem down there (and with all these steel accessories) is the rust....

    Cooling System/Crossover Pipe

Awesome - Motrin up and keep us posted! Look forward to hearing how things go and keep us posted (I really like folks write-ups and photos). We did redo my valve covers during my (ongoing) major LR4 rebuild / service and the valve covers are not such a bad job (once you get to them). You can...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

@Rendak This sounds great. I don't think the engine is wrecked (as the gang points out) and based upon your description, you have a relatively low-mileage truck with clean ownership and good service history. 8,000 mile oil change intervals are past my preferences - but not catastrophic (like...
