Best roof rails and roof rack?

My LR4 with Yakima bars and ski racks is almost a foot lower than my almost stock D1 with Thule bars and kayak racks. I drop it into access mode out of fun even though it fits in my work garage, the D1 didn’t.

Best roof rails and roof rack?

Looks cool, but these flat racks are so silly. You spend $1000 on one just to spend more money to bolt pieces and boxes to it so you can actually use it for storage. The Surco safari rack on my old Jeep was the way to go, just throw bags on top and use a net to keep everyone place. I like...

    Terrafirma hidden winch install

I like the devon4x4 mount better than the prospeed one if you’re loading up the parts cannon. It looks like (and probably functions the same as) the original crash structure more than any other kit.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I recall the hardware looking different on one of the kits, it may have been one from L8. Yea it is, that didn’t matter much to me. I used a lube locker gasket anyway, so I didn’t care about the gasket.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I bought the cheaper kit from AB and all the hardware is rusting, so I don’t recommend that one.

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

It is open by default from what I understand. I don’t have any control over it with the GAP tool.

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

Smoke was coming out the vent, which is next to the filler. That’s normal when pushing smoke back into the fuel tank.

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

I saw this in another thread, but mine is sticking out enough that the cap seals. I’d imagine the filler neck has to really turtle itself in there to not seal against the metal filler.

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

I’m still stuck on this. Got the fuel pump recall done, that fixed the “can’t fully fuel up” issue that a lot of people have. I’m able to get 18-19 gallons in before the pump shuts off where I used to only get 16-17. The stalling/misfire I was getting after fueling up is gone too. DMTL pump...

    Poor man’s CarPlay installed

I mean, besides being fun to look at, the 4x4 screen is useless. Not like on newer trucks where you can interact with it or change settings. You could probably cobble to get the Metra dash kit and leave the factory screen in place in addition to the aftermarket radio.

    Fuel Tank Shield/Skid Plate

If you aren't rock crawling, the OE one is totally fine. They rot out when snow/salt/debris/etc washes up and sits on the top of the skid between the plastic tank and top (upper part) of the skid plate.

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

I figured as much. Good news is, it’s fine now and I finally for the first time since owning the truck was able to actually fill the tank. I’ve never been able to get more than 17ish gallons in, even after triggering the low fuel light.

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

“We found the leak was coming from the fuel filler neck, that wasn’t part of the work done for the recall but we took care of it for you.” I literally laughed out loud over the phone and asked how how they removed the fuel tank with the filler neck still attached. It’s possible they left it...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

Got mine done, they had it for a week. I was nice and left them the truck with maybe 2-3 gallons of fuel in it. Had just enough to drive home (about 45 mins) and filled it with fuel at “10 miles to empty.” Then all the fuel came out. Called the dealer and they sent a flatbed, so TBD I guess.

    Poor man’s CarPlay installed

I have one of the ones that replaces the factory nav and keeps everything else stock. Besides the "lesser" audio quality, its rock solid.

Agreed. And flush =/ drain and refill. Which is what most of us are doing anyway.

205,000 miles and about to service transmission question.

that old school thinking isn't right anymore on the new stuff. under normal driving, the ZF fluid can go 75k (according to ZF) before you change it. OEMs say 100-125k. So, double ZF's number and you get 150. Transmissions and fluids have come a long way. It was a bigger deal with transmissions...

    Poor man’s CarPlay installed

thats not bad. I'm still waiting for something that replaces the factory screen with a newer (brighter, more responsive) display and ties into all the factory stuff. I'd pay good money for that.
