Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

Just finished replacing both front struts. The noise is gone. When I pulled the struts out both had play, the passenger much more than the driverside. New BWIs in, they’re nice. The job isn’t the easiest, but not the most difficult. Access to the top mount bolts are difficult, had to use my...

Smart Key Not found - Solution

So did a bit more digging today. The car recognizes the module and can read it. The module itself still shows 0 codes stored. I cleared the BCM codes and nothing has come back. It will still only start when the key is under the steering wheel. When I ask it how many valid keys it says 2 valid...

So do we think I’m looking at a new module?

Smart Key Not found - Solution

Hey all, having some trouble. Today in a parking lot I wanted to plug my IID tool in to get some temperature readings since it was hot today. Some of the pins in my OBD-II port are a bit janky so sometimes when I plug it in it’ll say N/A on live values so I’ll have to unplug it and re plug it...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

Worked like a charm except I used a slightly different one. https://a.co/d/08TQtKVK Make sure to screw the ball joint bold down to the contact point when you’re popping it out so you get more surface area.

It wasn’t the LCAs… so many words I want to say but can’t, that job is a pita and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t pi$$ed off that my rover still sounds like the wheel is about to fall off over any minor change in the road. Going to get it up in the air again tomorrow and make sure that nothing...

IID GAP as general code reader

As long as it’s compatible with the car you should be able to use it as a regular code reader.

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

as I’m gearing up to do this job in the next 2 weeks I’ve decided to update this forum with what I’m planning on doing. So after more driving and little bits of investigation I’m 90% sure that the noise I’m hearing is the control arm hitting the frame. Additionally, I can actually see a contact...

    Tracking down suspension leak

if you really think its the fitting i would try tightening it first. had a D5 that would sag on one side and ultimately take the other side with it. found that the brass fitting was leaking, tightened it and boom, no more leak.

    Wind, trees, alpine roof...oh my

So bmw makes 2 straight 6 engines right now. They make the B58 (engine in all the 40i models) and the S58 which is in their M cars. The B58 has a twin scroll turbo, the S58 has a proper twin turbo. The B58 (although similar in many aspects) which is in the grenadier, is not the same as the S58...

    Wind, trees, alpine roof...oh my

Yeah it’s in the M340 right now which has 386 hp and 398 lb ft of torque so if it has the same turbo charger and the same hpfp then with an ecu tune it should make the same (or more) power. Now I’m actually if anyone has tried.

    Wind, trees, alpine roof...oh my

Wonder if anyone has tuned one… not sure if the turbo charger is smaller on the grenadier but it’s got the B58 so it’s got a lot of potential in stock form

    Help Identify This Noise

I think there’s a good chance it’s an idler pulley

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

I’ve used arnott struts in the front for the past 60k miles. I will give credit where it’s due, they’ve been great for matching up the OEM ride quality but clearly they didn’t stand the test of time. I haven’t been easy on these. I’ve done a fair amount of rough off-roading on these and I don’t...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

So I did a bit more digging and decided that if it really was that bushing I could icolate it by lowering the suspension with the IID too and then putting it in access high to minimize movement in the actual strut itself and when I drove over the same bumps it barely made the noise. Put it back...

    Dash Cams?

I plan on putting my radar/dashcam up high and routing the wire through the headliner and through the A pillar to the fuse box this summer.

    Dash Cams?

I run an ****** maxcam 360c which is escorts flagship 360° max series radar with an integrated 2k dash cam. The radar isn’t really necessary for the LR4 but it’s great for road trips and I use it across all the cars I drive. the 2 in 1 is super convenient but that comes with a steep $$$.

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

Yeah, I plan on looking into it as soon as I get some confirmation from here that the bushing does seem like the culprit. I'll try to reach out to arnott directly and see if they could help me out and just send me a replacement for $$. hopefully a shop wont charge me too much if i give them them...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

Got the truck up in the air today and couldn’t feel any play. Took a look underneath and the right strut bushing that connects to the lower control arm seemed to be a bit more crunched compared to the left so I put it in off-road height and took a look underneath and the bushing seems to be...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

getting the car up in the air tomorrow to verify that it’s the control arm. I’m already pretty confident that it is so I’m going through the motions in my head to ensure the work goes smooth. I have most of my tools with me but I did leave my impact wrench at home. So my question is, has anyone...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

Sway bar links are usually more of a knocking kinda noised. The sway bar mount bushings are more of a squeak. If you go under the car you should be able to see if they’re deteriorating or not. Some times they’ll be in such bad shape that you can pull the rubber apart just by picking at it with...

I always use OE brands. Did the rear upper control arms this summer and used Lemforder. They’ve been great
