Yes, the "camera unavailable" fault can be caused by damaged/defective/failing parking sensor or the wiring that runs to each parking sensor.
I really did have my rear camera fail since it was submerged in water. Needed a new gasket for that area above the license plate that has the plate...
Maybe with spacers, but certainly not without spacers. Even LR4 19" and 20" wheels do not fit the Defender. Same bolt pattern but very different wheel offset.
So true, but after 8 years and 130K miles I'm ready to replace my LR4. Nice that business owner tax breaks allow me to deduct part of that new vehicle cost. I certainly pay enough for all the other expenses involved in running a business.
Thanks Michael. If it is the rear control arm & bushings, each side is only $144 from Atlantic British and that includes the hardware kit. The alignment needed after replacing the control arms will probably cost more.
I parked next to an LR3 and noticed both of it's rear tires were badly tilted-in at the top and tilted out at the bottom. Then I noticed my right rear tire is starting to have the same problem. I'm guessing that worn out rear lower control arms are to blame. Am I correct?
^^^This is the only reason I am moving on from my LR4 to a Defender. My accountant has been nagging me for years to take advantage of the Section 179 tax break. I just couldn't do it for a D5 regardless of the tax breaks.
I agree Scott, they do look great on your LR4. They sound like the opposite of the Cooper Zeons which were quiet at low speeds but loud on the highway, especially when worn down.
That is the most aggressive tread pattern I have seen in our 19" size. Great if you only drive on mud trails. Have to be ridiculously loud on paved roads. Probably useless on sand as you would just dig yourself straight down rather than move forward.
Something else to consider...the 2021 D5 is getting the upgraded infotainment system, P400 I-6 replaces the SCV6 and a few other changes:

I have also looked at LR4 prices since I'll be selling mine next year...
My LR4 is a 2013 with 127K miles. Transmission fluid and filter changed at 75K miles. I did notice that mine does shift oddly the first mile or so, especially now that it is colder out. I agree, there is one really clunky 2-3 shift about 3/4 mile from my house after stopping at a stop sign...
If you have a rear locker then it is probably the solenoid that engages the locker going bad. I was told that I caught mine early enough so they could just replace the solenoid. If you wait too long the solenoid will fail, engaging and damaging the locking motor.
And don't bother buying a TPMS sensor for that full size spare. If your LR4 came with a compact spare tire it is not monitored. (Like my LR4)
However, if your LR4 has the HD package and came with a full size spare tire, the TPMS system does monitor the air pressure in the spare tire. (Like...
I think this is why they changed the design from a 22mm bolt to that tab with a hole & loop rod. Shops were using the 22mm air hammer drill on the winch and ruining them.
As part of my winter tire changeover process, I also lower my full size spare tire and add some air as it loses a couple of pounds over a year. Unfortunately I found the winch completely seized/rusted in place. There was no way that I could turn it with that flimsy rod with the loop hook at...
Odd that the spec sheet shows less front leg room in the Defender. I'm 6'2" and could not put the Defender seat all the way back and reach the pedals. Maybe the seat track extends farther back or the front foot well is deeper.
But no, you can't sleep in the Defender unless you normally curl...
I wouldn't say it's a substantial decrease in interior volume, just proportioned differently. Defender has more front row and second row leg room than the LR4, but the cargo area is smaller. Plus a nice storage area under the rear floor if you skip the useless third row seats.
There are 2 Pilkington windshields that fit the LR4, an OEM version and replacement version. My glass shop said they could not even get the OEM version and no insurance company would approve the cost for the OEM one anyway. I'm on Pilkington replacement #4 in my LR4 and have never blown the...
I recall that someone else here had a problem with a Fuyao heated windshield blowing fuses. Something about the thicker heating element lines drawing too much power.
