has anyone upgraded to this metal tranny pan?
Personally prefer the plastic pan with integrated filter on both my LR4 and 405. It takes a bit more time on the LR4, but I’m not in a hurry. -

2013 LR4 (v8) coolant leak
IMO, would NOT risk OEM on this, use JLR Branded parts. Just not worth the risk. I cooked an engine due to OEM part (fan clutch) failing. Also had OEM hoses fail prematurely on my L322, turns out the O Rings are different. Replaced the 1 year old o rings with 5 year old OE (JLR) to get me going... -

A Pillar Foam Part Number
Thanks I saw that thread but it’s the wrong part, mine looks totally different, as it’s more rectangular with opposing angles in order to fit into two corners. Weird part. Maybe LR changed it for the 14-16 trucks. I have a parts friend at one of the LR dealers in Raleigh, I’ll prob call hime... -

@strally, @f1racer328: Please refer to post 9. The V8 and V6 engines operate at different temps. @strally: Perfectly normal, mine is the same. Please read my post above. I’ve also got a thread on this with more information if you want to search. My temps are all over the place between 205-226... -

Water Leak finally resolved
Sorry no pictures. If you lift up the aluminum gutter trim at the windshield, you will see the first clip, and the metal piece that the clip secures to in the gutter. Just forward of this you will see an over lap seam in the middle of the gutter that runs to the windshield. This seam was leaking... -

LR4 Transmission oil change... mixed feelings.
FWIW and my personal opinion and experience. I have never let high mileage stop me from changing transmission fluid, not a flush, just a pan drop and filter change, and refill with new fluid. I’ve done this on multiple BMW’s with ZF Auto’s with over 200k. One was driven another 100k before being... -

Just an FYI.....I've been chasing a water leak for the last couple of years, thinking it was the Sunroof drains. Then after closer inspection a few weeks ago I could see the water dripping from the metal seam (inside the car) in the Dr Side corner at the windshield. Thinking it was a problem... -

Does anyone have the part numbers for the foam piece that sits at the base of each of the exterior pillar (on each side of the windshie) covers? Odd shape so it fits 2 angles...I have looked (extensively) and cannot find it. -

Very interested in this, as my wife’s 2015 will cruise anywhere between 200-228 depending on load, mostly around 2015. Did you log your running temps before and after to see what the actual benefit was? My only concern is that I have been burned in the past using aftermarket in the cooling system. -

Fan and lean codes
just finished dealing with Fan codes due to motor mounts causing fan to hit the brushes that are on the lower fan shroud. I just removed the brushes from the shroud for now as I don’t have time to do the motor mounts so my prob is temporarily solved. -

FYI fan relay went bad at 98k
Same issue, P0528-00, AC started blowing warm while stopped, coolant temps remained fine. Good friend of mine told me motor mounts as well, fan resting on the lower brushes in the shroud. I don't have time to do the mounts right now, so I just removed the lower half of the brushes in the shroud... -

I did find a reference to that code and TTM when I was doing more research Sunday afternoon and would make sense, as just before the trip I put it in TTM for an alignment using my Foxwell scan tool, and after alignment I removed TTM. Maybe for some odd reason it did not get completely... -

Yes, and totally agree. I’ll be blowing mine out several times a year, as well as cleaning then lubricating the sunroof seal with silicone rubber spray. I saturated it this time, as well as cleaning the body around the S/R. The fender vents are easily and safely removed by going in the hood... -

I thought you were referencing the conversation with "Rover Range" where he mentions removal on L405. On the LR4, Bracket and heatshield are not removed/discarded, bracket is replaced if cracked and heat shield is reinstalled. On my L405 per TSB, bracket and heatshield can be removed/discarded... -

Working on Dr side S/R drain issue.....again. Line is clear, but drains slow. I removed the fender vent, then removed the black piece of rubber (vent pipe support) that sits behind the plastic air vent, inside the cavity on the right side (facing the DR fender).The rubber is concave on one side...
