Just picked up a 2016 Landmark after a couple of years of searching and noticed that it is leaking coolant, barely, but it is leaking from the water pump. Not a big deal, since I had planned on changing out the entire cooling system anyway, well most of it. Here is the estimate I got from an indy shop. What do you all think?

I initially thought about doing it myself but now thinking about handing the job off. I am familiar with working different engines, including my Jaguar XJ8, owned for a while, so I have not been to a shop in ages.

Total Cost estimate for job is $2800. $3900.00 with Radiator. This sounds more like dealership cost?

I am pondering it for sure, and thanks for the tip about utilising OEM parts. I will have to estimate the time factor to ensure it doesn't become a month-long project due to professional obligations. What is the approximate time required for this job?

Assuning you'll be replacing front/rear crossover pipes, water pump, oil cooler pipe, and thermostat it should take you 4 hours tops. BUT there's always 1 or 2 non-compliant bolts that'll just ruin that timeline.

Its a pretty easy job, just take your time. I did everything on your list on my wife's 15 Lux, as well as every coolant hose in the engine bay, and removing the Rad just to clean the fins and replaced the seal at the bottom, all at 80K miles, as it's her daily driver. I just bought a 16 L405 with same engine with 65K miles, and did everything on your list, in addition to WP, Therm, and all Rad hoses, especially the small plastic ones, as sometimes they snap when you remove.

IMO, Definitely only use OE Land Rover branded parts for everything. This is not an area to skimp on parts prices.

I also replaced the SC nose coupling and changed the SC oil on the LR4 and 405, so I'd definitely do that as well as you will be removing to replace the pipes, and make sure you use OE Eaton parts on this as well. Some nice write-ups on this on your Jag Forums...

Edit: Make sure you understand and follow the FSM procedure for bleeding. I use a vacuum fill then go thru the FSM procedure and never had a problem with air pockets. Also follow the torque procedure for intake and IC as well.

Again, take your time, and go slow.
