    Charging System Fault

2015 Lux: Received "Charging System Fault" on console with RED Battery display the other day when wife started her LR4. Being that it has 93K, I went ahead and ordered/installed a new Denso Alt from FCP Euro (LT Warr). After install and restarting, console is still displaying same fault. VM...

Current Brake Pad and Rotor Recommendations?

Ferodo/Zimmerman for rear, Pagid/Zimmerman for the front. Bought them from FCP Euro (LT Warranty, more for the pads, as the rotors were not really worn so they prob won't get replaced next time, and I doubt I'll return due to weight) due to the way this thing eats pads and rotors. No noticeable...

Help identifying 14-16 part (PCV hose) I broke while doing rear crossover.

For future reference, another excellent source is Evan McCall at Reeves Import Motorcars in Tampa. He is excellent, and really knows the LR4's from a technical perspective as well as parts.

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

Personally, if I like the car, and it's in good to excellent shape, I pretty much fix it, regardless of the value. Buying another car, more depreciation, issues etc etc. That's just my personal opinion.

Just exceeded warranty, where is everyone buying oil and Filters from to perform fluid change

FCP Euro, I've only paid for one oil change since we've owned this truck. Cost me around $15 to send it back.

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

Anything is possible and all speculation at this point, but if the HG failed, leaking enough water to cause it to overheat, this could result in the major coolant and oil loss. Unlikely but a possibility. Oil would have to come from internal pressure (coolant pressure into block) to blow oil...

    Diff and Xfer Fluids

Thanks for the above. Has anyone used AMSOIL products for any of these, especially the front Diff, as that appears to be just GL4/5....

    Diff and Xfer Fluids

Getting ready to change the Diff and Xfer case fluids on wife's 2015 Lux with Locking Diff (HD Pkg), what fluids are you guys using for the rear locking diff, front open diff, and xfer case?

    2014 LR4 Water pump/ plumbing status?

The second picture is the top part of the front cross over pipe, and looks to be the newer design. It connects to a lower pipe, that you cannot see that splits off to a "Y" and connects to the block. The newer design is one "roundish" pipe, where as the older design was two parts that were glued...

    2014 LR4 Water pump/ plumbing status?

The new front "cross over pipe"(two pieces, upper and lower) appears to be much stronger then the old one. When I pulled mine off, I compared both, and the new one was much thicker. From previous post: "SO I was just looking at the new front pipes, specifically the lower "Y" pipe, and upper...

    Control arm questions

If you are keeping the car, you'll be doing this again, so I'd get them from FCP Euro (LT Warranty). Mine are starting to go at 80K, and I'll be buying them from FCP as we will be keeping this car indefinitely. BTW, I've change my oil every 5K since 38K and I've only paid for one oil change...

Another Crossover / cooling system job

Very easy to tell, remove vanity cover, as JLGLR4 stated, look at the pipe, if it has seam, and looks like it was two pieces glued together, it's the old design, If is one solid "tube" with no visible seam then it's the new design.

    The Great Engine Oil Debate

FCP Euro, Lifetime warranty. For the last 40K miles, my oil changes only cost me $18 every 5K miles (8 oil changes @ $18ea). Not sure how much cheaper and easier it could be. They carry the JLR Spec Castrol Professional E

    Actual Water/Oil Temps

FWIW, I found out today, that the Coolant Temp gauge does not move until the coolant temp reaches 237, then it goes up to 3/4. I had some air in the coolant system today when filling, and as the temp approached 237 the gauge moved up to just about 2/3 before I shut the engine off to let it cool...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Finished it up today. Replaced every coolant/heater hose in the engine bay, Water Pump, Trans cooler hoses, Thermostat, and of course the coolant pipes. Did a vacuum fill, but still had some air, so I pressurized the system to 10psi then opened each valve to let air out, then quickly followed...

    Coolant Vacuum Fill

Bought the OEM tools coolant refill 24444. How much vacuum should I pull before I fill, and do I need to keep the compressor air going to keep a constant vacuum?

    Intro and oil type/interval/filter questions

Ck out FCP euro, lifetime warranty. After the first oil change, all others only cost you shipping. I use the package and bottles that come with each new oil change to package up my old oil and return. Cost me $18 for my oil changes.

The Quest for A Durable Front Crossover Pipe

FWIW, the new design that I am installing on my 2015 LR4 (80k)looks much stronger, and appears to be almost twice as thick in some areas. My old pipe was totally fine as well, but one of the pipes that goes into the block did break off BELOW the oring when I removed. The other side was fine. So...

    Intro and oil type/interval/filter questions

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Did you figure out where the two longer machine T30 screws go? These are the 25mm T30, the shorter ones are 20mm. I am guessing they go in the front cross pipe that attaches to the block. UPDATE: Based on the two T30’s that hold the upper pipe to the snout are much longer, I am using the two...
