Agreed. I think LR got lazy and dropped in the engine untouched. Jeep always puts the alternator on top. -

Well, I'd take the dealer at its word that leaking oil cased the alternator failure. I can't imagine them making that up. The bigger question is why was oil leaking out of the oil filter cap? Is the cap cracked? Was it improperly screwed on? I cannot think of another reason for it to leak. Who... -

I forgot to add that the service above was done at 38,878 miles. No off-roading and not much towing except for a 300-mile round trip towing a (U-haul car trailer with a car on it), but it is a Boston-area LR4, so it sees plenty of snow. Fluids look pretty dark. We'll see about the front diff... -

I don't have it handy, but last night I was reading the service manual and saw the recommended interval for plugs and belt is 7 years (and some mileage over 100k which does not apply to me as I am at just under 39k miles). Have you guys followed that? We don't often talk about belts and plugs... -

Nothing more to add except perhaps the electronic parking brake. I don't believe it's terribly common but when it happens it appears to be a PITA to fix a big $$$ due to labor (time). I used to use my e-brake all the time but now I've been sacred in to occasional use. Also, at high mileage... -

I think the lettering on the hood is iconic and would not remove it. I'm annoyed that the black package only says LR4 in the back. Ideally I'd put DISCOVERY on the left and HSE V8 on the right. I wonder if they sell those in gloss black. -

Agreed on both counts. Flush the hell out of the system and the LR factory coolant is not expensive enough to take the chance IMO.
