Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Agree with the fix issue plus PM approach. The crossover pipe seals looked flattened, think it was leaking from there as coolant in the valley between the two banks towards the front end. Also replaced rear heater manifold (same crappy plastic), and the flexible hose that runs under the intake...

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Thanks! It has the one in your 2nd pic towards the back of the engine, one on the crossover pipe and on the expansion tank. Yet to find one on any pipes near the radiator.

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Guys, thanks! Had a look and can't see anything looking like a bleed valve on tube leaving radiator or on pipes near firewall? Any further details to help me ID them much appreciated?

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Just replaced crossover pipe and heater manifold pipe. Now I am having a hell of a time trying to bleed the system. Did not add coolant to front crossover pipe via bleed valve = mistake. Did raise front hose off crossover and added as much coolant as I could before reconnecting. Have expansion...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Ahhhhh......... now I see where the oil cooler pipe sits. Unfortunately wet down there from coolant loss when I removed the crossover pipe. No obvs signs that its leaking. Will bear that in mind if leak persists after I put everything back together

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

The staining on throttle body butterfly valve inner surface and in inlet ports is greasy and had a bit of an oily smell so maybe oil from PCV as you say. Replace PCV valve? So maybe leave replacing throttle body for now. If leak continues after replacing other stuff can always revisit

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

******* mice I think! Engine hood sound deadener "blanket" loose at one end. I patted it and a peanut shell came out??? I had assumed the inlet manifold had a perimeter gasket. Obvs just individual gaskets around each port and open at back end four mouse entry.

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Prior to taking the inlet manifold off there was no sign of coolant along its outside perimeter where the 5 bolts attach it on each side. I did spray gentle hose water in that area on both sides as there was lots of sand, mouse crap etc. Then washed area with soap before re-rinsing and letting...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Yes, suprised the throttle body had a coolant hose going to it. Front surface of throttle body clean. Rear surface greasy. It just handles air so you would expect it to be clean allround, right? Maybe leaking coolant was seeping into the throttle body via the mating surface where it joins to...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Piece of cake so far! Waiting for 1/4" torx socket to arrive so I can tackle the rear heater manifold pipe, plus need to order parts

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Well, intake manifold off and front crossover pipe removed. Coolant visible on either side more towards front so I am thinking the front crossover is the culprit. No signs of cracking in it. O ring seals at the V end look a bit flattened, so maybe leak from there. Coolant present on mating...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Thanks...... appreciate your thoughts. The plenum is the intake manifold, right? I assume it has a gasket that should be replaced?

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

You mean the front crossover pipe. I should replace the rear one too I presume. Do you know the name / part # for the rear one? They are both plastic and prone to cracking right.

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Hey, thanks for your thoughtful reply. Done over 100 miles so defo a new leak. Yes, initially they said maybe air burping out. They used new seals, and they do good work, have used them for years. I also wondered if maybe seals got damaged when they installed the new water pump and pipe. Sounds...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

2010 LR4 V8 with 90k miles. So I had a v slow coolant leak for 6 months that started getting faster. Took it to my regular garage and they diagnosed the plastic pipe off the water pump was leaking. I got them to replace it and also the water pump as PM. got the car back and still leaking at same...

which power steering fluid for 2010 LR4?

Hi, The service manual says Texaco Cold Climate PAS fluid 14315 (in Canada). I have also seen GM Part No. 12345866 (32 oz.) or GM Part No. 12345867 (16 oz.), Spec. 9985835 being listed as equivalent (AC Delco). Can anyone kindly confirm a non-dealer brand that is readily available. Thanks!

    2010 LR4 brake bleed question

I read somewhere that bleeding brakes on an LR4 requires the engine to be running (something to do with the brake power booster) - correct, or is that not necessary. Anything else I should know beyond bleed from farthest location to nearest? Thanks in advance!

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Ended up getting my mechanic to do the tranny fluid and filter change using the AB kit. Old fluid not too nasty looking. Did front and rear diff oil changes myself today. Plugs came out fine and oil looked new! Transfer case only had a litre in it (leaking a bit) and old fluid was brown. Now...
