Thanks, I tried that but it still tends to catch in half open position. I can't work out why liftgate will now not close, as I have not adjusted it at all
Saga update:
New switch and actuator in and liftgate still opening an inch and catching. That made me thing latch!
Using the key fob the latch seems to half open (hence catching after the tailgate opens an inch). I can them open it further by leveraging with a screwdriver.
Weirdly the liftgate...
Thanks for the tip. Didn't get it off Amazon, but agree longevity may be an issue. I am in Canada so needed it urgently. May order powerfuluk switch in the event the new one fails prematurely. The OEM one doesn't look like a quality item either :(
I found the culprit!
Turns out it wasn't the wiring per se. I checked the voltage going to the liftgate switch located in the handle. 12V. Big relief! I then connected a jumper lead to bridge the switch and the actuator whirred. The switch was therfore the issue. Ordered a $25 non-OEM switch...
Don't think so.
It was previously maintained by dealer. I noticed it was loose at one end. Didn't get around to fixing it and then it fell off during a road trip
So an update for the record.
I figure I have a broken wire in the loom which powers the liftgate switch as per Ryanjl, so need to remove tailgate handle to investigate. Both rear license plate bulbs blown which supports a wiring issue diagnosis. Obvs never that simple!
4 torx bolts that hold the...
Hi,
Were you able to make any progress on this? I have the exact same thing re. Press the key fob for a second and it pops open. Any longer than that and it opens an inch and catches on the latch.
Will be checking the wiring as soon as I get the 3x corroded torx screws that hold the whole...
Ahhhh.......my parents had a '77 model as I recall.cost GBP 2200 (not sure why I remember that,). BL at possibly their worst. Remember the windshield seal leaked. Dealer response was "Madam but they all leak!" Or something similar.
At least they didn't buy an Allegro...........
I would let the shop sort it out at this point. Just make sure tactfully that they are aware of the correct bleed procedure. The DIY at home procedure involves raising the expansion tank a couple of inches. Google it to find the procedure. Make sure they replaced the bleed valve with a new one...
Useful thought process thanks!
I had a look at the actuator. Physically nothing looks amiss, but if solenoid issue then would not be visible.
I took the lift gate switch out as per Powerfuluk vid. As per their vid, also snapped one of the tabs. Seems there's no way to avoid doing that as cannot...
Ah found it. Thanks!
Electrics are a horror show for me. Have a multimeter but barely know how to use it.
So the final solution was to just splice in two new wires between the switch and the connector?
Will investigate as weather permits. Will probably replace actuator anyway now I have wrecked...
So........ this morning the rear hatch opened with the key fob. Took the carpet out and tore out the weatherproofing membrane. Closed the hatch and now its doing what it did initially I.e. only response is with key fob, and then it only opens half an inch before the latch catches.
When I...
2010 model: So I have read a number of accounts of rear hatch actuator issues with varying symptoms.
Before I throw $$ at it and order parts I would be grateful if anyone can give me additional insight to pinpoint likely malfunctioning part(s).
Out of the blue today I could only open the rear...
All sensors front and back quiet - no clicking. The fact the front ones are dead too makes me wonder if its something More systemic i.e. control module?
