Defender 130 an LR4 replacement?
This times 10. I think what really scares people on cars.com etc. is the 12/17 city highway number. My wife always gets at least 15.5-16.5 around town and you can get 18.5 on the highway pretty regularly. The aerodynamics do make a huge difference cruising at 65 vs 80.- Al Pizzica

2010 LR4 V8 Electrical Problems (Big Surprise)
Take this or leave this but it's almost always a bad battery in my experience. This is typical behavior of many modern cars when the battery is down a few cells. "Unusual" preventive maintenance?
Yeah, 40k on brakes in these LR4's is very good. My wife has never made it past 32k. The AB kits are relatively inexpensive so I get hose and have a local mechanic do them. I don't know about the LR but the locking diff on the Jeep Rubicon uses an additive that gets goopy faster than regular...- Al Pizzica

Defender 130 an LR4 replacement?
I'll be curious to see the dimensions of the new Wagoneer as it is the first thing to perk my ears/eyes up as an LR4 replacement once the wheels are off this one. V8, check, 3 row, check, boxy with good interior volume? waiting on the check.- Al Pizzica

As someone who really, really likes the new Defender and is fortunate enough to almost get whatever we want I'm driving the wheels off of this, our second 2013 LR4. No it was fine, thank goodness. I think some noob LR tech doesn't understand that it's not something that you torque down when you hit bottom. I was thinking it could be throttle response as well, I put a throttle controller in my JT and it "feels" faster, but you should be able to recreate the same acceleration in normal mode by flooring it off the line but you can't in the LR4. I used the broken roverparts filter wrench with some sheets of paper in between the wrench and the filter for more grip. I will third the re using the drain plug and not having any issues and second the notion of having some sort of system for oil drain management as I made a huge mess the first time. It has been a horrible winter in the NE and the heavy LR4 has been our friend through all of it. I noticed snow mode is not right for all types of snow. Ultimate Towing Thread
Towed my Jeep TJ to a Jeep event last year. Jeep is about 3900# and the trailer is a little over 2k, so call it 6,000# Going and stopping were great. Handling is better with a longer truck. Does the vehicle stay in off-road height when turned off?
Yeah, I would not trust it with my life. We have had two 2013's and this most recent one likes to "dance" more often than the last one. Just seemingly randomly adjusting itself like cperez said.- Al Pizzica

Anyone know a reasonable dealer for timing chains 2011 LR4?
I would seriously look at an indy shop that has done tons of them. The dealerships are having trouble with labor and they are all very inexperienced. At least around here in Philly. The guys at East Coast Rover in Rockland probably don't do timing chains (they specialize in awesome restorations...- Al Pizzica

Oil Filter top will not come off
Tried a search. Last oil change was by dealer, the first one since I bought this one used at 65k. I suspect either they overtightened it, or it was too tight and they said to hell with it. '13 LR4 Pending Purchase
If you maintained that 04 bmw for 100k miles you can do anything on this truck. Do a lot of reading on here about the 13s. We had plenty of warning on our 13 water pump and there are some things you can do to keep an eye on the chain tensioners. Have fun, enjoy the new truck!- Al Pizzica

LR4 suddenly won't start/crank. Even with fully charged battery and/or jump
It's amazing how bad batteries can cause a very wide variety of wacky symptoms in modern vehicles. It is very good to know about the starter reset.- Al Pizzica

Well crap!
What resources did you use to do this, I'm thinking of doing it myself when it gets cooler. If you watch the Youtube Samcrac videos where he tries to get the supercharged RR sport running the 5.0 engine becomes a lot less intimidating to take apart.- Al Pizzica
