    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

FYI….it’s still at the machine shop. Maybe this week if I’m lucky. Anyone know of any way to strengthen the block? I’m thinking I may hit up Darton and see if they make a cylinder sleeve, or can make a cylinder sleeve for our blocks. While creating a semi-closed deck block...

Looking for a decently priced 2011 LR4 engine 5.0 non supercharged

I am going to start a new write up on the build and cross platform integration as soon as I get it back from the machine shop! Sounds like you got a great deal on a used engine! I think I paid $3500 for my SC engine that had a “slight knock.” Which turned out to be a spun #2 cyl...

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

That’s what happens when I just type…and don’t proof read…. While oil squirrels I’m under the pistons seems like a better description, oil squirters is what’s actually there!

Looking for a decently priced 2011 LR4 engine 5.0 non supercharged

You’re exactly right, and in truth, NONE of the LR4’s or D4’s whatever you want to call them did. That’s what makes this project so challenging and so much fun at the same time!! Which is exactly why I wanted to do this swap!! Thus far one person has already done it, one is halfway, and I’ll be...

Looking for a decently priced 2011 LR4 engine 5.0 non supercharged

No worries! If you can’t wait and find a one sooner, go for it!! It’s just an option, that’s all! I don’t even have my SC engine back from the machinist yet!

Looking for a decently priced 2011 LR4 engine 5.0 non supercharged

I sourced my SC engine from a jag, the only real differences I’ve found are the oil pan, oil pick up tube and oil pump manifold are different. I think I spent roughly $400 sourcing used LR parts to convert the jag engine. I have heard, but can not confirm that the accessories are a little...

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

The compression ration for the NA engine is much higher, so when you start putting boost to it you run the risk of pre-detonation even with the SC computer. The blocks are different because the SC engine has oil squirrels under the pistons to keep them a little cooler. I imagine if you tried...

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

Me too!! Lol! No, the engine is still sitting at the machine shop. And now the machinist is at a classic car tour for the next couple of weeks. He promises it’ll be finished before I move back to Memphis on July 2nd. Fingers crossed!

Looking for a decently priced 2011 LR4 engine 5.0 non supercharged

It depends how long you can wait. I’m actually in the process of swapping my NA for the SC version. My NA runs fine, but it’s a high mileage engine at 170K miles. Really all it needs is the timing gear swapped….VERY easy with the engine out. But I decided to swap the whole engine...

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

When I did the compressor roughly 4 years ago. Again, all with “OE LR parts”.

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

I pulled the fuses the first time I checked the system, but simply left it this time. I'll pull the fuses again and re-check, but it's on level ground and has completely fallen over night. That said, the first time I checked it, the driver's front fell a decent amount, and the passenger front...

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

Well, it appears as though the re-seal didn't work. the front is back to falling down over night. :bawling: Looks like it's time to order another valve block... or Maybe I have a leak somewhere else? I dunno...

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

I've got a 2010 LR4, 170K on the clock, and I have no idea why they keep failing. I think the first replacement was in 2016ish with about 100K on the clock when the fronts started kneeling overnight. Then, I went and did it again in 2018 because it was starting to go down over night again, but...

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

It looks like one is the air inlet and the other is an air exhaust line.

    Quick Compressor Replacement Question

I've pretty much done it all to my suspension. I had the Hitachi compressor originally installed, but it died in 2019, so I replaced it with the AMK at the time. I was told it would last longer and would run a lot cooler than the Hitachi, but I honestly can't confirm that for fact. At the end...

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

Evidently, CarID.com said they'll ship early to mid April. If that slides at all, I'll switch to Bosch...I just happen to have time to wait right now as I haven't even got the block back from the machine shop. Thanks for the info!

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

Another quick update; Evidently, the NGK’s are on back order. I’m going to try and see if I can get a shipping ETA, but I’m sure all I’ll get is something along the lines of, “Due to the supply chain crisis….blah blah blah”. I may be forced to go the eBay route…or possibly the Bosch...

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

Quick Update: I pulled the trigger on the NGK's, but not from the ebay site above. Both Carid.com and Stockwise auto had the coils for roughly $71 and $67 respectively. Unfortunately, Stockwise only had 7 coils in stock and CarID had 8. Plus, shipping was a little higher for Stockwise, so it...

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

Good to know! I've run NGK's for a while, and in truth, don't have much experience with Denso plugs...but it's worth looking into. Any idea if Denso makes ignition coils for this engine? I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with the different coils? As for my rebuild, it's a...

    NGK vs Bosch Ignition coils

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience running the NGK vs Bosch ignition coils? I run NGK plugs in the engine and prefer them over the Bosch plugs. Recently though, NGK has released coil packs for this engine, and touts them as the absolute best you can buy. That said, aside from...

    Replacement Valve Guides

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been talking with my machinist, and as soon as he gets the the heads, we’ll check the clearances per the manual. That said, I’m installing new valves all the way around…it’s a long story, but I bought a full set for a project I was thinking about, then went a...

    Replacement Valve Guides

Awesome! Thanks for the info! If the ones I bought don’t fit, I’ll order the ones you listed! I’m rebuilding the whole engine, and with everything apart, not doing the valve guides would almost be a crime!!! Thanks!
