You're welcome! I'm trying to show everyone these engines aren't all that complicated! The software side of things....that's going to be a trial and error kinda thing as I've been ghosted by the Australian company who was going to program the PCM into the system. So, I'm going to give it a...

Got all the timing gear on it over the last day or two. It's been slow going as the house pack out took precedence. The good news is that now I can 100% focus on the car.....the bad news is that I have 9 days to get it all together again. Or at least installed and body back on. But a few...

Gotcha, I may go see if the local rental depot has one. That said, a cherry picker on the front and a floor jack with some blocks in the rear and she came right up....course it took me a few attempts to figure out where the best jack points were.

Ok, I give, what's a telehandler? While I think I cracked the lifting code over the course of a couple of the lift, I'm always open to suggestions and ways to make it easier.

Nope, I hadn't seen that one! But I do know there was a guy who chimed in on my other thread stating he already had a V8SC up and running. I wish I had the funds and time to do a true engine build on this, but that may have to come down the road a little bit! For now....stock. ** EDIT** I...

And just like that.... Ok, this is like a week's worth of teenage assistance, and three evenings of trying to get it in the air!

A few updates this morning, hopefully more to follow this evening.... I went ahead and installed the oil pump and pick up tubes. Then installed the new drive chain, timed to the crank tick mark and fuel pump cam mark. For those of you wondering why I have a magnet on the crank, it's...

Not much accomplished yesterday, but I double checked the torque on all the head studs, and installed the cam followers and cams. Torque pattern on the camshaft keepers surprised me a little as it's not a start in the middle and work your way out ward. You start from the front and work back...

Continuing on, prior to installing the inserts, I did clean up the block a little. I used a nice sanding block and some 320 grit sand paper to just clean the mating surface. Anything heavier duty tends to really remove material faster than I'd like it to and then you find yourself "not flat."...

Hey All! Sorry for the delays, it's been a crazy week, and I've done a lot to the engine, it just doesn't seem like it. Most of the week I spent switching between getting the house on the market, and getting the cam followers appropriately sized. I ended up buying roughly 22 new buckets in an...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Hey Folks, sorry for the delay, but I've been a little busy putting out fires around here, and more importantly, working on my 2010 LR4. FYI, if I knew then what I know now, I NEVER would have started down the Bosch infotainment transplant into my 2010. To say it has been an emotional roller...

In other events, while I wait for my block inserts to arrive, cause my machinist wanted to wait to install them, and I sorta used them on the NA engine during the head repair project. Soooo....I decided to start getting the heads in order. My machinist installed the new exhaust valves, and...

Well, another day or two, and honestly not too much accomplished. But I did manage to get my mother-in-law moved from one facility to another, and that's almost bigger than the engine....almost. Thankfully, when I got home last night, the new B clutch drum....actually it was the B, A and E...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Sorry, it only lets me post 5 pics at a time, so I have to break my posts up a little bit. After I hit the stopping point with the transmission....cause the B clutch goes into the case next...and well...I don't exactly have one yet...I shifted back to the engine. The engine tried my...

Ok, so today wasn't 100% as productive as I'd hoped, but it was pretty decent none the less. First I messed with the transmission. Long story short, I think I damaged the B Clutch piston assemble when I took it apart. I tried too get it back together and messed it up even more. So, eBay to...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Ok, today's progress...or rather for the last 2 days....sorry, yesterday was a LONG day and I didn't have it in me to post last night. Last night I set the main studs with Loctite thread locker red on the in block portion of the stud, then used ARP ultra lube on the washers/nuts to torque...

Yeah, this is actually a Jaguar AJ133 that had spun the #1 cylinder bearing, and #2 wasn't far behind. (especially since they share the same crank journal). And, no, sit wasn't simple, the crank journal had been ground way down and the rod was toast...and there was enough play the piston was...

    Dieseling engine noise

I’d check and see if someone like Lucky8 LLC is running a 4th of July sale on the GAP tool and get one. It’s the best $550 you can spend on your Rover! Plus, it’ll give you TONS of insight into what may actually be wrong.

    Dieseling engine noise

Do you have a GAP tool? Can you scan for codes? I find it very hard to believe that it would "diesel" without throwing any codes.

    Dieseling engine noise

I would say there's a distinct difference between dieseling and injectors clacking. How many miles on your rig? New chains yet? Another possibility is faulty cam variators...or semi faulty...perhaps they're variating, but not enough, so there's mis matched timing on the engine. Start...

Final product for the day: Tomorrow, if I have time, I'll start swapping bushings in the transmission. I also need to go and torque everything to spec on the mains and rods. (they're just snugged up right now as I like everything to float...just a little bit so I have less chance of...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

Ok, so today's progress. I was planning on putting the transmission back together, but then I remembered I have to swap the bushings first....so I turned my attention back to the engine and finished installing the pistons. (FYI, I already have 2 pistons in the engine...it's not the V6) A...

I had originally planned on truly building this engine for 800-900+ HP....and then my bank account reminded me I'm broke. We found the Coyote engine valves are virtually identical to ours, just a little bit bigger. 37.7 vs 36. However, the biggest different was the valve lift....Coyotes get...

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

Ok, this really needs its own thread, but I'll try and sum everything up quickly. Short answer....sorta. Everything is in, and works, but yes, I'm having issues with the MS CAN and HS CAN talking to correctly. Here's what I did; I replaced everything! I thought it was simply a couple of...

Oh yeah, one other great resource I found: https://avtgr.ru/upload/data/pdf/zf_instructions/6HP28e.pdf official repair manual...but I'm not gonna lie, it's extremely technical! I've been studying it like crazy to make sure I understand what it's talking about...what we're measuring and why...
