    Air Suspension head scratcher

Ok, Gents, here we go again! Let me just start by saying I had an epiphany today....I've been doing something completely wrong, and making life WAY harder for myself than I should have....and yes, it's pretty much the story of my life. What might this epiphany be? Simple, I read the...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

If I have a dollar for every time I got one of those calls....LOL! I have the news shocks, they arrived Friday. I was gonna swap them yesterday, but by the time I got my other LR4 project over there they closed in less than 2 hours and that was a little tight to get the shocks swapped. So...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Ordered up a pair of rear struts from Rock Auto....cheapest Arnott struts I could find....that said, my wallet is still screaming! The valve block and air line combined didn't cost as much as one of the air struts. And because I always do things in pairs, I bought two. Did I really need to...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

They were new in Sep 2018, and while they should last for a significant amount if time, it could be it just failed prematurely. Full disclosure though, I did buy these particular Arnott struts off eBay, and while they looked brand new it's not like I got them from a reputable dealer...so who...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

@ftillier is correct. All the ADS system does is modulates how much fluid is allowed to pass through the internal shock absorber in the air strut itself, thereby adjusting the amount of resistance in the air strut. That said, the difference between simple adjustable and adaptive dynamic is...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Well, I talked to the folks at GAP diagnostics, and they confirmed my fear. In order to load the appropriate software to ensure all the modules talk appropriately for the ADS, you'd need to load the RRS software onto the LR4....which I'm told is not possible. At least according to GAP. But...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Yeah, for what should be a pretty simple system, tracing this one particular glitch has been a bit of a pain. When my wife gets home tonight I'll pull the fuses and take some measurements again and see if there's a fall vs. time difference from before. It's actually ADS, and it stands for...

    5.0 supercharged into an LR4?

Hello all! Thought I'd give you all a quick update. The engine isn't in the vehicle yet, but I was finally able to source a scrapped AJ133 block to send to Racing Engine Designs (aka Darton's prototype shop). Hopefully in a couple of months they'll get the MID sleeves designed for the AJ133...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

It pretty much runs up along the frame cross member, around the parking brake actuator, and then over top off the passenger exhaust pipe and through to the shock mount. Unfortunately, the majority of the tube is hidden...or at least so far behind everything I can't spray it...cause I've tried...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

It's definitely looking more and more like it....really thought we had it with the rear valve block. I keep hoping I'll get a shipping notification for the hose, but here I wait.

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Sooooooo.....still fell down over night. Looks like the next step is the cross over air tube....but it's still on back order. If that doesn't get it, the only other thing I can think of is the RR air strut is leaking. If after all that it's still falling, as the position sensors are all...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Now that the valve block has been swapped, lets take a look at the old one and see if we can't figure out what went wrong. Initial separation: Nothing seemed to be a "smoking gun" if you will, but I pulled the plungers out and this is how they looked: Again, not too bad. a little bit of...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Here's the finished product! All nice and ready to go! For those of you eagle eyed repair folks, yes, that's a bubble in my brake line....it's been added to my list of things to swap when I have the body off...FYI, the parking brake actuator is also on that list, cause It's almost impossible...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Sorry, it'll only let me attach 5 pics at a time so I have to break this up. With the valve block rotated, I was able to get the butter most hose off: After that I was able to remove the final hose, as well as the old voss fittings. I apologize, I forgot to get a pic of the Voss fitting...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Ok guys, it took me a little longer to get to than I would have liked....and there's still a chance there's something else wrong...but I doubt it. I finished the swap this afternoon, and I have to say it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. DOn't get me wrong, it was still a...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Sorry Gents, I've been sick as a dog this week. According to the doctors, a 103 degree fever and pneumonia is bad....what do they know! If the weather holds I'm gonna try and driveway repair it tomorrow. (no time to make it to the hobby shop)...this assumes the drugs keep doing what they're...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

In theory I'll be headed to the base hobby shop tomorrow the get it swapped out. I'll try and take several pics of how I do it along the way.....probably a lot "what to do" and "what not to do". Most likely more of "What not to do!" Sorry gents, been a little busy lately with an even that...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Interesting, that makes perfect sense! I think I've used that in the past, but typically I just use spray silicone....your idea is MUCH better!

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Luckily, the new valve block comes with new Voss orings...I mean seriously, given how much these things cost, they should be gold plated at least! Yes, silicone is your friend...there's nothing worse than trying to take a fitting off, and for every turn of the wrench the fitting tightens...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Part arrived yesterday...evidently, the front valve block I ordered for my other LR4 was on backorder. They were hiding to ship them both at the same time. I asked them to just ship what they had, and voila! I have a rear valve block! ....now, to find the time this week to get it...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Not gonna lie, since the standard suppliers are usually the fastest to drain my wallet I tried the "aftermarket" usual suspects first, Atlantic British, RimmerBros, Roverland, and Lucky8llc. According to the Lucky8LLC site, they had some in stock....but as it has yet to ship...I dunno. I'm...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

I ordered a new rear valve block....I've tried new o-rings without much success....although in retrospect, it appears as though the valve block I "rebuilt" wasn't actually the problem.....soooooo the rings were probably just fine. I also ordered the valve block to RR line, just to be safe...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Still waiting.... Lucky8llc has always shipped almost instantly....looks like they may drop ship these from LR....who as I understand it from my dealer has them on back order. So frustrated.....want to fix it NOW!!!

    Air Suspension head scratcher

FYI, just waiting on parts to arrive.....

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Yeah, I was thinking the spare was gonna have to come out....may even need to remove the compressor just to give myself a little extra room. I have heard "small hands" are a required tool....in which case I could be screwed! LOL! I did decide to pull the trigger on a new air line for the...
