    Long crank, no faults

As the coolant heats up, temp sensor 1 will trend towards 0.5 volts. Temp sensor 2 will stay cooler (higher volts) because that‘s the cold side coming out of the radiator. So the general trend looks okay. Right after starting, you’re already putting some heat into the system, which might...

    Long crank, no faults

I can’t remember if you have the v8 or v6. If you have the v8, you might get to it. If you have the v6, it’s harder to get to with the supercharger sticking up. Not sure if you can reach it. Maybe remove the windshield cowling? Not sure if that would give you better access.

    Long crank, no faults

Yeah, I think there is something wrong with that 0.6 v. I just went out and measured mine (dead cold). I’m seeing close numbers on both.

Another Coolant Leak - Occasional White Vapor at Idle? 2015 SCV6

@Waterndirt - I remember your earlier posts about this, but did you ever figure out what caused the head gasket to go? Seemed like quite a coincidence.

Another Coolant Leak - Occasional White Vapor at Idle? 2015 SCV6

I’d just keep an eye on it. Use a sharpie and mark your cold coolant level - dead cold, like first thing before starting the car in the morning. Could still be a little air working its way out of the system. If it’s so small that you’re not sure it’s happening, doesn’t really matter what’s...

    Long crank, no faults

There are two temp sensors, one just below the T-stat in one of the radiator hoses near the water pump, and the other mounted in the rear crossover. I don’t know which would be causing the trouble. I think the rear registers the hot side of the coolant system leaving the block, and the front...

    Long crank, no faults

Checked mine again after sitting one day and got same results as last time - ignition on, before cranking, showed 650 kpa (95 psi). I’ll see if I can get a graph of the pressure increase on cranking. Maybe comparing graphs can give you some idea of the hpfp performance. Also wondering if you...

    Long crank, no faults

As for the pressure regulator, I believe the regulators are built into the HPFP, not separately replaceable.

    Long crank, no faults

Finally got a chance to look at fuel rail pressure. My car was sitting all weekend without being started. When i put on the ignition, before starting, fuel rail pressure read 650 kpa, so about 95 psi. It started immediately, as always. I wouldn’t expect to see much pressure, but maybe you...

    Long crank, no faults

When the car wakes up, it powers up the low pressure fuel pump. But I was thinking that just pushes fuel up to the HPFPs, which then pump it into the rail. But I might be wrong.

    Long crank, no faults

I was thinking the fuel rail is supposed to maintain some pressure when the car is switched off, and it might be leaking down in this case. So, when you crank after leaving it set, the pumps need to fill the rail again before you get fuel to the cylinders. It’s not going to be nearly the same...

    Long crank, no faults

I’d be thinking fuel. Not sure why cold weather would affect it, but maybe leaking injectors, minor leak in a fuel line connection, or faulty pressure regulator letting the fuel drain out when the car sits. I think the pressure regulators are built into the hp fuel pumps.

Best Brand MAF and MAP Sensors

@Michael Gain - Nice to see you still active on the forum. Did you get tired of that Rebel yet? Ready to get another LR4 (not that I’m selling)?

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

The front crossover pipes were not redesigned until about 2018, so none of the LR4s had redesigned pipes as sold. You can spot recently replaced front crossovers in the 2014-2016 models. But, they did not redesign the front crossovers for the V8 models. So can’t tell if V8 front crossovers...

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

Not the same front crossover due to placement of the supercharger snout. I believe Asilver is correct. Only the V6 crossover was redesigned. So, prob no way to tell if the pipe on the V8 was ever changed.

Any way to tell if timing chain/guides/sliders are original to vehicle?

This sounds like maybe an oil delivery issue. Even if the original guides were not replaced, I wouldn’t have expected them to be worn down so far as to be characterized as “non-existent” - unless you’ve got a ton of miles on them. I recall there are some oiler tubes that drop oil right onto...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

If it sounds something like marbles rattling, that’s just the isolator/coupler. Known issue and easy fix, but won’t affect performance. Otherwise, I still wonder if it might be the bypass valve. If there is something wrong with the bypass, I think it will affect performance.

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

If your sc is not outputting the expected boost, that might be messing up your idle as well. Not to mention that particles of metal might be going into your cylinders if the sc blades really are contacting each other. I find it hard to imagine slop in the blade shafts is really the problem...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

It’s probably idling rough after warm-up because that is when the car goes into closed-loop fuel control, adjusting the fuel supply based on feedback from the o2 sensors and other sensors involved in the fuel control system. On cold start, it is operating off the fuel table and ignoring the...

Starting and Rough Idle then Shutdown issue

Did you happen to have a roof drain leak in the recent past? Seems like these strange situations are most often attributed to corrosion at the central junction box due to that particular scenario. Otherwise, things that come to mind are rodent damage to the wires behind the battery box, and...

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

I guess that would be the canister vent, but shouldn’t the canister vent solenoid be closed during a smoke test of the EVAP system? I assume you’d want the system closed and slightly pressurized to look for leaks.

P0442, check gas cap, can’t figure it out

You say there is no leak, but this sounds like a leak. The vent on the tank connects to the charcoal canister, so smoke coming out near the filler is not normal. Was this leak fixed and you are still getting a code?

Starting and Rough Idle then Shutdown issue

I think you need to try to get the codes off the car before you can begin to figure this out. Everything going black sounds like an electrical problem, but the grinding noise from the shifter and the fact that it will sort of start roughly with the accelerator pressed sounds like something...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Just so we’re on the same page, it’s not the valve itself that gets dirty, but the surrounding tube that it sits in. A small amount of gunk builds up right where the edge of the valve meets the throttle body tube, causing it not to close all the way or to stick just a bit when it tries to open...
