LR4 5.0 V8 - recent timing chain service with 4 new camshaft adjusters - still seems somewhat noisy??

HP fuel pumps are on the passenger side. So, if it’s louder on the driver’s side, not likely the fuel pumps.

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

No oil will come out the snout. The only oil in the sc is in that little box under the drain plug. It’s the gearbox - isolated from the rest of the unit. Not much volume, and not much oil. Just a little in the bottom to bath the bottom of the gears.

LR4 5.0 V8 - recent timing chain service with 4 new camshaft adjusters - still seems somewhat noisy??

That’s loud. Doesn’t really sound like exhaust manifold to me. Have you checked for codes recently?

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

supercharger drain/fill plug is on topside at the back of the sc. i think the recommendation is to use a syringe to withraw what you can, then put back the same amount.

LR4 5.0 V8 - recent timing chain service with 4 new camshaft adjusters - still seems somewhat noisy??

Gotta upload the video somewhere else (like YouTube) and link it here. You can make it private in YouTube if you want so it's not posted to the world. But can't upload vids directly here (to my knowledge). Could be manifold leak.

    P0170 fuel trim and CEL

Could be a MAF, but this code is bank specific and MAF malfunctions generally affect both banks (air from each “side” is combined when it enters the engine). So, if I were replacing things, I’d go for the o2 sensor first. I would suspect the lamda (pre-catalyst) o2 sensor which is closest to...

    P0170 fuel trim and CEL

Those fuel trims are still basically within normal range (as I understand it) - maybe on the edge of being a little too lean, but nothing that should trigger a CEL. The engine code seems to relate to a plausability failure. There are several subtypes listed in the manual, but they all relate...

    P0170 fuel trim and CEL

Check your actual fuel trims using the gap tool. Run short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim and engine rpm. graph live values at idle, then hold it at about 1500 for maybe 20 seconds, then hold it at 2500 for maybe 20 seconds. take a look at the results and see if its running lean...

Only 5 quarts of oil drained second oil change in a row (also… drain plug?)

I don’t think 3 quarts in 7500 miles is a ton. I remember my ride in high school would burn a quart every 1000-2000 miles, and it didn’t really smoke much or anything. On the LR4 though, I thought you might get an “add oil” message if you were down 3 quarts. I check the oil level periodically...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Well, I got in there and took a peek with the borescope. Tough to get a visual and tougher still to get a picture. All I have is the top side of the sensor (attached but I could see the bottom side and I’m pretty sure it’s got a tab and cleat on the bottom just like on the top. I believe you...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

I‘m thinking there is a tab on the bottom side that grabs a cleat (you pry away from the plug gently to release). I‘ll try to get out and look at mine in the next hour or so - see if I can get a pic with the borescope.

2014 LR4 HSE LUX- BSM Inop

It should show you if any modules have faults. The solid amber dot means that the system is unavailable. When the car is stationary, you really should see the dot on both mirrors, as the system is non-functional until you start moving (about 8mph). Once moving, if you still have the dot, it...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

@LR4HD I notice you are in california. If you are under 7yrs/70K miles, your fuel pump should be covered under california emissions warranty.

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Update - here is the coupler only, and the description says 17 ft-lb torque on the snout. The owner of this little company (in Michigan if I recall) was very responsive to email questions. https://www.ebay.com/itm/112433704125?epid=8022488838&hash=item1a2d922cbd:g:sMkAAOSwmVVhbMFA

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

I can't remember what I torqued to, or where I found the info. If you search up eaton supercharger snout torques, you're bound to find some numbers. The eaton spring coupler was a big issue on GM cars and lots of folks replaced. It's not a high-torque or torque-critical application (to my...

Help identifying 14-16 part (PCV hose) I broke while doing rear crossover.

That’s the correct way to get them off as I recall. I might have cheated with a pliers on a couple - can’t recall. Nothing special though. They are tougher than you’d expect to get off.

Help identifying 14-16 part (PCV hose) I broke while doing rear crossover.

I believe that’s a vacuum assist line. Try searching for a vacuum hose or the like.

    Clunk/knock, starting to get concerned.

Not sure about body panels. Motor mounts maybe? Ever notice a thud or jolt when putting into gear? Maybe have someone put it from park into gear while you watch the motor for any movement.

    Charging System Error

A full battery should give you about 12.6-12.8v (make sure you leave the car hood up, key off, for a good 10 minutes, or you’ll have some systems still drawing voltage - its amazing how long stuff stays running in this car). With the engine running, you should see 14+ volts (I think mine sits...

    Clunk/knock, starting to get concerned.

On the rear of each frame rail - at the very end right behind the bumper, there are some loose swinging weights - you can see them if you just look under the rear bumper. Quite heavy. For resonance dampening or some such thing. Wondering if you are hearing those hit the bumper/frame when you...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

Replacing the heads is a gamble. You’d need to get someone to verify the block is not damaged and is still flat, then spend a lot of money rebuilding the heads (I assume they are warped), then continue to worry if the headbolts are going to hold (I’ve heard they have a tendency to strip). If...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

I don’t know about the rest of you, but that description of the fluids doesn’t really sound like the typical coolant leak situation. I suppose the reservoir could have failed, or a poorly bled coolant system could have caused the overheating and just boiled coolant out the reservoir. Still...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

Wow - does not sound good. Really sorry to hear about this. I agree with Joe77 - I can’t imagine the mechanics can’t locate the source of that kind of major leak. Only so many places the coolant can be coming from. The explanation you were given does not make a lot of sense to me...
