It occurred to me only after I had gotten the adapter stuck on their pretty good. I should add - when I use the bare tube, I push it on quite far - like maybe 4-5 inches overlap - which probably gives it a little better seal. -

I know you can remove with throttle body attached. I’m pretty sure you can disconnect the hose at the back and leave that oetiker clamp attached. Definitely can reuse the intercooler gasket. -

That‘s a new one to me. Did he suggest how the cabin air filter could possibly be burning? The only thing I’ve ever heard of burning up in the hvac is the blower motor, more specifically, the bearings in the motor. That can cause a terrible smell. -

Since you smell it outside sometimes, my guess is that it is not the HVAC and it’s something under the hood. The HVAC draws air from just below the windshield, so if you have some fumes coming up from under the hood, they can get sucked into the cabin when the HVAC is on, but the smell will be... -

Can’t think of how it would be getting into the valley. You mentioned the possibility of a valve cover leak before, and that seems more likely - rear valve cover dripping down the back. Otherwise, maybe oil pan gasket. You’re sure its motor oil and not transmission fluid or gear box? -
