What kind of leak is this?

Get a UV flashlight. If it has Rover coolant, it will be UV active and fluorescent. Take a good look around after dark. Scorpions are UV active as well. You might have some of those about...

    Does my engine sound normal?

2013 LR4 purchased new 91,655 miles video date 07/31/23 Cold start-up Average oil change frequency 7,430 miles Max oil change duration 12,467 (ouch!) It has had an easy life, simple daily driver mostly open road, about 20 miles each way. Errand and city driving has been minimal. Chain looks...

    Does my engine sound normal?

Well, I'm no expert on "normal", or what exactly that sound is, but sure doesn't sound like mine...

What kind of leak is this?

That's coolant. If it's Rover brand coolant it glows bright yellow under a UV light. There was a discussion about the rear crossover being accessible from the top not too long ago. For this group it actually got kinda heated, but this is a great group so not-so-much really... I still maintain...

Towing - I Have Not Done My Homework...

I may not tow things myself, which is why I started this thread, but... I do know there is alot more to towing than simple down-force on the hitch and having inherited a Honda Pilot that was used extensively for towing in it's previous life, now with about 60K on the clock, needing a complete...

Nuts & Bolts... and Screws (basically fasteners)

Try BoltDepot.com They are my go-to vendor for stuffy stuff like this. If they don't stock it, it's not available anywhere. I have dropped and not recovered one as well. As I recall I found a good replacement in my misc box, a long sheet metal screw.

Adding Pentofrost SF to OEM LR Coolant?

Depends of whether you have the V8 or the V6. Same in concept of course, but much more work with the V6. Here are my videos that you might find useful. Crazy long, yes I know...

Adding Pentofrost SF to OEM LR Coolant?

My coolant just shows up in a box at the front door. :)

Adding Pentofrost SF to OEM LR Coolant?

I can't speak to your exact question, but Rover coolant is easy to get, so why make a change?

    Headliner Cloth Coming Loose

Way too hot to be messing about with anything not absolutely necesssary. If this gets attention at all it will need to wait until early 2024.

Low Battery Warning while camping overnight....

These vehicles never really go to sleep, they just wake up less often as they are left alone. Please there is always a draw down current usage of about 20mA. If the battery is sufficiently discharged, say when you leave it parked for 3 months without touching it, or for any reason, just be...

    Add Blind Spot Monitoring ? - 2016 LR4 HSE

Just asking again. Has anyone successfully, actually installed blind spot monitoring in any LR4 that was not sold with that option already installed? The parts are expensive. After reading it looks like there might be wiring to the mirrors, but not wiring to the rear radar units, and...

    V8 short drive belt replacement

As long as you purchased the belt from Rover and you were communicating clearly which one you needed it will be ok. There is never a need to cut anything off. The tensioner is very easily released. I used my breaker bar (3/8) with a copper pipe over the handle to release the tension. Could not...

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

Bolts more likely to be rusted tightly if you have road salt in the winter. Mine are Houston vehicles, came out no problem - whew! But do use anti-seize when reinstalling in preparation for next time.. Just keep it off the threads!!! Another good diagnostic: Find a 1.5" lip up from the main...

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

The boot will be destroyed by the pickle fork. I have never had any luck pressing in anything - (especially those Nissan front bearings!) - so I just don't bother any more. I just purchase a new lower control arm and go with the everything from Rover. The trick with the front axle it to...

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

I have now done this on the 2013 and the 2016, V8 and V6, respectively. It's exactly the same job on either configuration. Yes, it's a bit challenging, especially the re-install. Yes, it needs to be re-aligned after you complete, no matter how careful you are. Yes, the best tool for the ball...

    2020 Disco 5 Oil Change

I always use Rover brand fluids and the Rover branded filter. Yes, it's more expensive, and many will disagree. The most important thing is to stay at 5K or so with the frequency. There are many reliable on-line vendors for Rover brand fluids. Atlantic British and FCP Euro come immediately to...

Are Voss Fittings One Time Use?

WAYYYY off target, but maybe food for thought... I just finished installing a new flow through water heater and it required several new brass fittings. In the old days, by cracky, we used Teflon tape on the threads and it was sealed, no problem. These new fittings must be different, made with...

Dead mouse inside my fan motor blower

Well, I know from the house I grew up in that it will only last about 3 days!! See below... This is from the manual for the 2016 , but note the publish date is 2011, so probably pretty universal.. Face mask recommended - Hanta Virus...

When did your crossover go and is your climate HOT (CA, NM, AZ, TX, LA, etc) or COOL (PNW, northeast, etc)

All TX vehicles. - HOT. The 2013 was done in 2021 at 90K. Failure was the o-ring in the connection between the water pump and the oil cooler tube. The 2016 was done in 2022 at 60K. Failure was the front crossover on the passenger side just outside the o-ring - cracked and falling apart all...

    Todays Battle

If I am interpreting what I see correctly, looks line a line from the mold. if that is correct then they all should have that and it's fine. But if I am incorrect, then it's good insurance to replace.

Is an LR4 Body Lift Possible?

If you are only looking for 1.25", are you aware that with the IIDTool your can reprogram your (air) suspension to default to any height within the total range of motion of the system. I.E. you could simply reprogram the system to call default height at 1.25" higher.

Hazards, Christmas Tree, No Crank, Hear me out please…

Well, I have never taken mine that far apart, but I have to agree that with this much disconnected I would never expect it to be functional. These are crazy intelligent - or is it stupid... - they never really go to sleep and I CAN speak from experience that they re-set and adjust systems many...
