Brake Pad Opinions
RE: pads -- I put EBC Green Stuff pads on the front about 5 months ago, and they are great! Hardly any wear yet, no noise, no pulsating, not a single problem. They also (IIRC) about 2/3 the cost of OEM. -
New Problems
I was lucky, it only took running a knife blade along the edges to get it to come loose. Hmmmm....try using a small screwdriver and wedging it in there and levering it off. Loose metal in the oil is not a good thing. Hopefully this will help you clear out the pan and see what else is in... -
New Problems
Drain oil, drop pan, clean pan, replace pickup tube, refill oil. You don't have oil in the top end of your engine. It's probably due to deposits and sludge blocking the good oil from going into the pickup tube. -

Bought a Factory brush guard for my D1
Get big bolts, and some nuts to match them. You use existing holes in the frame horns. Have another person there to help you line it up. -

Dude, that's a lot to ask. There are plenty of problems with both Series 1 and 2 Discoveries. Even within Series 1 there are differences (96-99 have distributorless ignition and 4.0V8). My suggestion: Read a lot of the threads here, and you'll see a pattern in problems. Look in your... -

O2 Sensors
Try www.discountbritishparts.com -- it's the same people. There are ways to splice in 4-wire O2 sensors, although I think that's had mixed results...was that you, Joey, that tried doing that? Can you change just the fronts, or just the rears, so it's not such a wallop on the pocketbook? -

Looking at the pictures, I don't see how you'll have room. There are, IMHO, two problems with those discreet mounts: (1) They end up down in the muck if you get buried (assuming muddy trails and not Utah style slickrock) (2) They put a very expensive accessory down near obstacles. -

It's possible it's a bulb, but check other, strange fuses -- like, the hi-beam / low beam fuses, the brake light fuse, the radio fuse. Might as well check 'em all...then post up and let us know if anything changed... -

96 and newer are distributorless ignition -- I am pretty sure it's called GEMS for all models including DIIs. It's nice not to worry about the dizzy but getting it to start after getting the engine wet is not as easy as drying the distributor and firing it up. Just make sure the each of the... -

Just did it on my 96. Get as much of the air intake / MAF / plenum off and/or away from the plugs as possible, use a spark plug-sized socket (13/16?) with an extension, and get to it. It's not so difficult as to make it worth $100 in labor. Also, there is no distributor on your truck -- and... -
Code P1316
You have to have the code cleared -- go to Advanced Auto, Checker, Autozone, etc. and have them clear the code for you. Then check a couple days later to verify that it worked. I just cleared P1316 with spark plugs too -- must be contagious! :biggrin:
