    DIY, brake pad replacement questions

I haven't done the job myself, but my understanding is that if the wear sensors have not been tripped that you don't have to replace them.

    Looking for Door Handle Cap

There's an online parts catalog here: http://lrparts.ru/engl/ Use it to find your part number. Click on the link. Then click on "Land Rover Microcat electronic parts selling system on-line." On the next page find the LR4/Disco4 photo on the left and click on it. Next page, click on photo...

I use a moving blanket. More than one sometimes, depending on the cargo. They're cheap. Black, of course.

    Jerry Cans and Holders

Hi David, If it were me, I'd plan on leaving the poultry floor on all the time. It will make loading anything easier. I would attach the jerry can holder to the poultry floor with a bolt through each of the two holes in the base of the holder, through the poultry floor, and then backed up by...

    Jerry Cans and Holders

Well, yes. But then why have the holder? Are you worried about having the holder on the roof all the time? The holder is made so that when not carrying a can the steel "strap" may be removed, leaving only the low-profile tray on the roof rack. Or perhaps you predict that mounting the jerry...

    Jerry Cans and Holders

Hi David. I'm with NASDiesel on Expedition Exchange as a source for a jerry can holder. Have a look here. The EE jerry can holder accepts NATO style jerry cans. CARB has been unfriendly to the fuel can industry, but you can still find NATO-spec cans at Deutch Optik. While you're at the EE...

    Suggestions for "Sticky" Threads!

I like both the ideas about the off-roading and TSB stickies, but I must say that if too many stickies accumulate it can be a pain having to scroll past them all the time.

Is it possible to remove the middle seat

Well, each of us has his or her gifts. As one who has the tool-user gene I've always felt it was my obligation to help shepherd along those who don't.

Journey of Discovery - LR4 specs

Um — let's be clear on this. Land Rover abandoned the off-roader, not vice-versa.

Journey of Discovery - LR4 specs

After seeing this thread earlier today, I emailed Todd Jensen, editor-in-chief of roverguide.com, who's blog LR4TQ referenced in the first post. He responded within a few hours. It went like this: Spalding: Dear Sir, Several of us over at the LandRoverWorld.org LR4 forum are following the...

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

Hi David, For the benefit of others who might be interested in more off-roady tires and come to the forum to do a search, I suggest you start a new dedicated thread entitled "Cooper Zeon LTZ Off-Road tires on stock 19" wheels" or something like that, and repost these photos along with the...

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

Outstanding. You realize the position you're putting yourself in though, don't you? As of tomorrow you will no longer be allowed to post driveway pictures. You'll have to find a nice bit of fire road to photograph your tires and subsequent modifications.

    Prosepective owner...need some advice!!

Yes. Very true. It depends on whom you ask. To put a finer point on your "checkered reliability history" characterization, I would say that Land Rovers are well designed but indifferently built. That means that new trucks are apt to have some QC issues out of the box, but that once those are...

Does this sound right to you?

Nice truck, mon frère. Weight is an issue often overlooked. Would you mind re-listing all your modifications/additions in order of priority? Not by weight, but by utility, please. I have my own ideas, but I'd love to have your opinion.

    Off-Roading Pictures

I thought the LR 18" wheels wouldn't fit on the LR4 because of brake clearance. Does an LR4 in Panama have different brakes than an LR4 in the U.S.?

Does this sound right to you?

While that is certainly a factor (this is my wife's car we're talking about and she is more lead-footed than I am) I think it also makes a difference which vendor one's specific brake pads come from. Out of curiosity, why is your LR3 heavier than our LR4s? Is your truck all expeditioned up or...

    Side protection moldings!!!!

I agree. It seems the most effective height for door protection is at the height of the most convex part of the average car door. I think because the LR4 is a tall vehicle, the lower position might be reasonable.

Does this sound right to you?

Another thing to throw into the mix is that often there are multiple parts suppliers and perhaps not all LR4 brake pads are created equal.

Does this sound right to you?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll have an outside shop look at the brakes and comment on the half-worn-pads-wear-faster issue. One of these days one of us will do a nice step-by-step pad changing post with photos and that will be a great service to all of us. If I were changing the...

Does this sound right to you?

I took my LR4 to the dealer today for the first (and free) service. I have been told by the service rep that it needs new brake pads. The truck has just under 15k on the odometer, and while I think that's too early for the truck to require pads (for any vehicle to require pads), it beats the...
