In general, taller sidewalls are better. A smaller rim allows for a taller sidewall for tires of the same diameter. Sometimes circumstances offroad call for airing down the tires. The taller the sidewall, the more the tire can be aired down without jeopardizing the rim.- CaptainSpalding
