    Sway bar disconnects

Ah ok easy enough. You just got to think about the forces, but yeah it is a bit of a mental exercise. I couldn't find any good videos on the internet. Yes you do want the opposite side down for contact and the weight of the tire will pull it down as far as it can go anyways. Ok example...

    Sway bar disconnects

Oh and this is all hypothetical. There are some big questions here like what happens to the EAS computer without sway bars? Is it capable of dealing with wheels moving without sway bars or does it just flip out and drop to bump stops? Will the airbags at an increased pressure actually let the...

    Sway bar disconnects

No. A sway bar works by transferring upwards motion from one wheel to a downward motion on the opposite. So if the passenger side wheel goes up, it pushes the drivers side down. In the example photo from tahuya, as the passenger wheel starts to compress, the sway bar starts pushing the...

Shock and upper control arm contact

Thanks for your work. Looks like I need to do some work on figuring out how to do some nice limit straps.

    Sway bar disconnects

Stuffed...um no. See the pic below. My passenger side wheel should be stuffed atleast 2 more inches. The goal of the disconnect is not droop on IFS. Lets walk through an example. OK we are going over a rock on the passenger side front. As you start to go up the rock, the wheel compresses. As...

    Sway bar disconnects

The only thing I disagree with is what the sway bar is doing, Remember me up on that rock, the side to side articulation was bad bad. With a disconnect, I bet it would have been much more level. But who knows. Who is going to be the first to remove the sway bar ends and see what happens :)

    Sway bar disconnects

While I agree that excessive droop can be tied to the air bag damage, I still think there is a benefit to a disconnect. You would probably have to do some kind of limit straps, and maybe not even that, the sway bars are not the articulation limiter, it is built into the shock - but the benefit...

    LR3 Skid Plates Design/Sizes etc.

Tactical Rover's doesn't have an engine/front skid. Just a transfer case and gas tank. And yes I am a huge fan of aluminum. I just installed a tactical rover's gas tank skid, and holy hell it weighs probably over 100 pounds in steel. It totally skipped my mind when buying or I would have...

    Low Oil

Burning a quart of oil between oil changes is plenty normal as they age. Yes the piston rings, valve guides and other seals start to wear and age. Nothing to worry or stress about. Yes as you get more miles, you will need to start thinking about checking the oil between changes.

Shock and upper control arm contact

Wow interesting finding. The droop limit is built into the shock. I wonder what material the stop is made out of. Guess it is wearing or deforming and therefore allowing the shock to extend further than normal. Also how many miles on yours now?

Throwing my opinion out there, the LR's are brighter than my '04 Audi. And on par with my old '08 audi. Either way, they are fantastic. No complaints here.

    Making the LR3 trail ready

Hummer uses A arms and CV's: The portals mount at the hub, doesn't matter too much what is behind it. Obviously they would have to be custom as no one makes any that bolt on. But 'oilworker' over on Expedition Portal has a set of portals on his defender 130...

Someone have RS Sliders, a ruler, and a couple minutes?

Hahha too funny. Yeah right click > save as, allowed me to get a copy where I can see both sides on my tiny 36" monitor Oh and in case anyone is wondering what "under the knife" means - it isn't bad. The sliders look great. I'm just plating the top and bottom of the standoffs to turn them...

Someone have RS Sliders, a ruler, and a couple minutes?

Thanks for the pic. The plan is, I have a set of tactical rover's sliders that are under the knife. They don't seem to stick out as far as I want (2.75") so I wanted to check their comparison with the RS sliders. Anyways, my mind has been made up. I am adding 1.5" to them to bring it out...

    Making the LR3 trail ready

Regarding Erek's test, Erek, GeoRover and Ryan's rigs are all 05's. So no model year changes could be in there. My hunch is that the alignment plays a critical role in the amount of space before contact.

Someone have RS Sliders, a ruler, and a couple minutes?

I need someone with the standard RS sliders (not slim) to take a quick measurement for me. Can you open a front door, and measure the distance between the verticle plate where it meets the body and the outer edge of the tree protection. I'm trying to find out how far the outer edge of the...
