    AWESOME dealer/service experience

Land Rover Encino, CA has always gone out of their way for me.

    Land Rover website...Is it down?

I can go to landrover.com, the global page, click through to the "americas" page, click on United States and get to the U.S. home page. I can get info on the Range Rovers, but nothing on the LR2 or LR4. I first read this thread last night. My wife's LR4 is due for its first service, and she...

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

You're on the right track, and ordinarily you'd be right. If we had 18" rims, there would be a wide selection of tires in a stock or stockish size from which to choose. With the use of height adjustment rods, larger tires are possible, broadening the choice even further. But most of us have...

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

It's interesting that the main page for the Zeon LZT doesn't list that size.

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

I saw it and read about it too — in one of your posts in the off-road photos thread! I've never read about them anywhere else. So you are back to the Scorpion ATRs or 18 inch wheels. For 18" wheels, the analogous tire size is 255/60-18. In that size you could opt for Nitto Terra Grapplers or...

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

The best way to go might be to go to the Cooper Tire website, use their dealer locator, and then start calling tire shops in your area to see if they will order them for you. (You probably have already tried this . . .)

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

Perhaps your assertion is a bit broad. I've got BFG Mud Terrains on my Defender and they're great on anything but ice. But this is practically off-topic, as there is no tire with a mud tread available for the LR4 as far as I know.

19" Tire Option Discussion - Again!

Neither Cooper nor Pirelli do the prospective buyer any favors in terms of information. The descriptions for the tires at the company websites are very vague. If you look at some of the more well respected all terrain tires out there, namely the Good Year Wrangler MT/R and AT and the...

    Off-Roading Pictures

I just wanted to add that in an LR4 Off-Road Photos thread those posting pictures should be encouraged to describe their vehicles, either stock, or if not stock, what modifications: tires, wheels, height sensors, rock sliders, winches, bumpers, roof racks, etc. It looks like this board is...

    Experience installing short roof rails

Evidently there are some spacers (washers) that are supposed to be installed underneath the rails. If they are omitted, when the screws are tightened the glass can crack.

    Experience installing short roof rails

I chose the silver rails. My thought was that with repeated installation and removal of rooftop accessories that the finish on black roof rails would be scratched and after a while they'd look a little tatty. I had the dealer install the rails. In the process they broke the roof glass. Twice...

HID install issue - DDM tuning HID kit

Thanks Baobay. I understand the idea behind adding the relay circuit. But it is common for many modern cars to already have it. Adding it to one's LR4 might not only be reduntdant (i.e. putting a relay into a circuit that already has one) but it might also fail to solve the problem. If there...

HID install issue - DDM tuning HID kit

Baobay, are you sure that the headlights aren't already running on relays? My '97 Defender has them running off relays as wired from the factory. On a related note, has anyone seen a source for wiring diagrams for the LR4?

    Land Rover Experience

I don't know about being an "advanced off-roader." A few moments before that photo was taken, I had my left hand wrapped around the tube door and was hanging on for dear life. Harald, the instructor, walked up along side and said, very matter-of-factly and in a voice low enough that my fellow...

    Land Rover Experience

It's interesting. I had the Land Rover Experience at Quail Lodge and was unimpressed. My trip involved a lot of hand holding over modest obstacles and getting the truck into some situations for photo ops. You see what the capabilities of the truck are, but there was very little actual education...

    Stating Issues

I haven't had the issue, but I've heard (from the dealer) the part about the fob being in close proximity to a smart phone. I haven't heard that there was a "reset" period required before the truck could be started.

    oil level?

That is another matter on which the owner's manual is unambiguous. Prior to checking the oil level ensure that: • The vehicle is on level ground. • The engine oil has reached working temperature (oil is hot). • The engine has been switched off for 10 minutes, as the system will...

    Slight Wheel Vibration Fixed

The primary function of sliders is to protect the sill from damage when inadvertently coming in contact with rocks, tree trunks, etc. You can't tell how effective they will be by just looking at pictures. What matters is how beefy the sliders are and how they are attached to the vehicle. I look...

    oil level?

The owner's manual is unambiguous on the matter. In addition to the bar graph indication there are verbal instructions. If it says Level OK then it's okay. If it wants you to add some oil it will tell you. If you add too much it's bad.

    Roof rack options thread

I love the winch bumper. Maybe a poor match of the rooftop tent and roof rack. I wish the tent sat on the rack proper instead of on the rails.

    Front A Protection Bar - Should I?

Hi David. It would be a colossal waste of money for you to get that A-bar. The way you're going, I see a winch bumper in your future. And once you have that, you'd have to get rid of the A-bar. The winch bumper isn't available yet. But there's plenty to keep you busy until ARB finalizes the...

Grill Guard & Nerf Bars / Rock Sliders

I haven't heard of a grill guard for the LR4 yet. I know ARB has a winch bumper in the works but it's not available yet. You can get LR4-specific sliders from Voyager Racks.

Please help ID some wires under the hood . . .

Hi everyone. This morning I raised the hood of the LR4 to refill the washer fluid reservoir. I noticed an electrical connector dangling from the underside of the hood. It was hanging out from under the insulation. Plastic cylindrical connector with two wires, brown/yellow and black. What is...
