You can disconnect the cable stay on either side pretty easy. There is just a clip to release down at the ball on the tailgate. Release the bad one and the tailgate should drop down. You can get buy with only one side as long as you don't put anything to heavy on the disconnected side.
I Think he is talking about the spooling cable stay on either side of the tailgate, not the cable that opens the latch.
You will need to replace the spooler stay about a $40 part from rover parts west.
You need to order a new light switch and the wiring harness that connects the light to the plu on the right side behind the bumper from LR.
There are part numbers around here or on disco3 uk that you can search for.
Get it adjusted or do it yourself, I had that and all my shops said the actuator needed replacing.
I decided to adjust it myself using Bodsey's brake bible and it went away.
Worth the try.
The reference to the charging system is just about how to disconnect the battery. probably can figure that out.

There is only an 80 HP difference between the 2 engines with the v-8 being heavier the net HP by my calcs is about 50 HP.
The V-8 does have a better top end speed for freeway cruising but the 6 gets a little better gas MPG. Just a couple MPG but every bit helps I guess.
The 6 seems to...
I second the silent armors for all-a-around performance for what you describe you are looking for.
For heavier off-road I am a BFG user just for the heavy sidewalls they have. Can't see to blow one no matter how hard I thrash them.
That is the factory audio kit option, I doubt the dealer disconnected it. Either soemthing is broken or you are not operating properly is my guess.

Nope, it was the locking diff complete as I replaced the open diff with a locking one. At the time the open diff was running about $800. These were the rebuilt prices from LR about a year ago.
