    My V8 on start revs initially to 2000 RPM (from the starter) and immediately drops to around 1300 rpm until another 30 seconds and slowly idles down. Maybe modesto_man could post a video?

    I was pretty undecided on fluid. Workshop manual says Texaco Cold Climate Fluid 14315 Owners manual says the Land Rover Cold Climate fluid I believe. The Pentosin 202 seems good though, it isn't cheap though.

    Have you been into access mode with the lift rods installed before? I'd pull the codes as there could be a lot of reasons it's throwing a fault. The IID tool is pretty easy to setup.

    What year? I'm assuming pre 2014? There's a physical cable that connects the shifter to the transmission, and I believe they can corrode/rust and break. These videos show the replacement process if this is your problem.
