I'm using an OBDII code reader and the DTC code is P06562 and I'm looking that up on the DTC index for Four-Wheel Drive System Diagnosis and Testing. When I start up, there are no codes on the OBDII nor is there a message on the dash. When I start driving and the chime goes off, I get the...
I printed the section of the workshop manual called "Four Wheel Drive Systems - Four Wheel Drive Systems; Testing and Diagnosis". Page 2 lists the DTC codes, Possible causes, and Actions. Keep in mind that this code is happening while I'm driving. If the battery was bad I think I would get...
I used the code reader to check the alternator voltage. It stays around 13.55 to 13.62 and will drop to about 13.42 when I apply the e-brake. The code reader has the ability to store live data related to a new code so I'm going to try driving around with the reader on live capture mode and see...
The code reader says P0562 - low system voltage. I have already changed the battery, twice, and ran an extra ground wire to the engine. Next, I guess I should add another ground wire to the body and check for continuity at the ground connector for the control box.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the advice. Because it seems to be related to operating temperature, I thought it might be a tranny fluid problem. I changed the transfer case fluid about 15,000 miles ago but I plan on checking the level and taking a sample tomorrow.
I printed the 4x4 diagnostic section from the...

It does have locking diff (heavy duty package). Is there any way to see if that is working? Keep in mind that of the array of faults I've gotten, I've never had one referring to the rear diff.
I know this thread has been around before but, I think I have a unique situation. I have been getting the "range change not available fault" and others (Reduced traction, Apply Parking Brake, Special programs not available, HDC not available) for about three months and it's not the battery. I...
About a week ago the SRS light came on after I crossed a speed bump and stayed on until I turned the key off. Light was off when I next started but illuminated after negotiating a sharp turn. Again the the light was off when I next started but came back on at the next small bump. This pattern...
A lot of things don't make sense ,like a three year old battery being the cause of suspension faults. Pay to access the LR GTR and look up the section "ZF 6HP26 Troublshooting Guide - Land Rover" and see for yourself.
Starting at about 40,000 miles, I had the same problem with my '05 HSE; idle fluctuation only during warm-up. There were never any codes and the dealer tried twice to re-flash with very limited success. I didn't make a big deal of it because it doesn't take long for an engine to warm up in...
67,000 miles with indifferent maintenance is much worse than 105,000 miles driven with care. There are a lot of early LR3's coming off lease and via trade ins that were owned by people not versed in the finer points of Land Rover care. Case in point, there is an LR3 in my neighborhood owned by...
I have a '05 HSE that I purchased new in Nov. of '05. The steering wheel was replaced after about 18 months. The leather just melted off and left black stains on my hands like partially cured 5200. At the same time, I complained about a warping drivers airbag. Dealer said it was a known...
Just finished replacing the latch on my '05. It broke five years, almost to the day after I took delivery. I bought a new latch and water shedder delivered for less than $50. Others have repaired the "L" but the new one seems to be much more substantial with a swaged steel fitting rather than...
todjb 122: It's possible you have two problems, a clogged sunroof drain or even a cracked or loose sunroof tray There are some instances out there of cracked sunroof trays causing leaks. I would start with the easy fix first. See what's going on with the end of the drain tube. I don't...
I would really recommend that you not try to stick something down through the drain. You will either push the tube off of the sunroof tray, which will require dropping the headliner to reattach or you will put a hole in the elbow that attaches the drain tube to the inner fender wall.
The...
See my post about "Cowl Replacement". If that is the source of wet carpet on the passenger side, the fix is easy. If it's the sunroof drain on the passenger side, not so easy. There is a drain at each corner of the sunroof, and I am told that the one on the passenger side requires dismantling...
The passenger side wiper is cumbersome to reach. It might help if you lower the suspension.
Even if you never need to replace the cowl, it might be a good idea to remove it every couple of years if you park under trees. The area under the cowl is a repository for fallen debris and might...
It might be different with a five seater. I copied and and filled in some details from the LR GTR and it didn't mention anything about the load space panel.
Even though most of the interior of the LR3 is "snap together", it's the few hidden screws that could cost you. With a panel as large...
If you live in a hot sunny southern climate, no doubt your "cowl" trim is badly discolored at best and at worst could be the source of major water ingress into the sensitive electronics that reside behind the glove box. The cowl trim is the black plastic that covers the area at the base of the...
Here is a step by step for replacement of the PD buzzer.
After five years of ownership, my PD buzzer died a slow pathetic death. I got mine from Parts.com for a price, including shipping, about 25% less than dealer retail. This is an easy repair but will require the appropriate size Torx...
It looks like the end of the road for the Goodyear 255/55 19 MT/R. It seems the entire MTR line up is being replaced by the new MTR - Kevlar. Which does not come in a 19 rim size. Check the Goodyear USA website, the MT/R link redirects you t the Wrangler HT. In addition, Tire Rack has...
2005 - 2009 model years are virtually identical. The one option that is likely most sited as being especially desirable (for off - roaders anyways) is the Heavy Duty package. It includes the auto locking rear differential and the full size spare tire. Forget trying to add third row seats to a...
It looks like cracked dash pads are going to be a regular issue for LR3's in hot climates. Mine was replaced by the dealer last year. While I was about 5000 miles out of warranty the dealer still replaced it if I would pay the labor. I was getting some other work done so I'm sure they were...
