Well it should be covered by insurance....Thief damages a vehicle as they attempt to steal it that would be a covered loss. Get your company involved. Of course I am the US so your mileage may cary with UK insurers.
Mine was cracked just above the oring where it got plugged into the valley pan. As soon as I took out the bolt holding it the sleeve where the oring was got stuck and the part simply separated.

I threw mine up on my dad's lift. Just used some common sense as to where to pick it up....and yes even my dad had the high lift pegs to get the pads up where they needed to be.
