Showoff Your LR4
New summer shoes! They're 255/55/19 Nitto's wrapped over 19x9 wheels from a RRS. They were blasted and powder coated in gloss black. I'm really digging on the look, and having stiffer tires back under the truck feels great after running Wrangler Duratracs all winter. -

rack install help
I used a trim puller and some finesse. The trim puller came from an auto parts store. Looks like a two-tined forked (but the tines are wide and flat). Worked pretty good for popping out the plugs without ruining them. -

They seem to be wearing well, but my miles have been low and my driving is pretty light. My wild-ass guess for tire life is 25k or 30k. -

I'm with you on the offset. I've done some digging, and my current wheels have a 53 offset. The wheels in the link above are also 53 (and those are the type of wheels I'd like to get). Both also have the same diameter, so I think that if I run 255/55/19 on both sets of wheels, neither would rub... -

Great info guys, thanks. Really dumb question now: If I've got 255/55/19 tires, I can mount those on either 19x8 or 19x9 wheels? No change to rolling diameter? No other implications? And if the 19x9 wheels are deeper, do you think I'd rub at full turn? -

Now that you mention it, I think I did hear that getting the mountain/snowflake doesn't come cheap, and they don't sell enough of the 255/55/19 to warrant the cost. On the road noise front, they are barely louder than my stock conti's, and I'll credit the LR4's sealed/plush interior for that... -

I'm no expert, but I believe they can't be rated for severe snow because you cant put studs in them. They are too low profile for studs. Automatic disqualification. Otherwise, they are the same tread pattern and compound as other DuraTracs, so I'm pretty sure they might as well be rated for... -

Snow update on the 255 55 19: These things tear it up! Lots of traction in the snow, and the stopping power is fantastic. They do great on ice, packed snow, and fresh snow. Really make this LR4 feel like a snow machine. Loving them right now. -

My bump in PSI was based on your recommendation, Axel. 45 PSI with our 75 degree weather right now should sit in the 42 range when it drops to the 20s and 30s this week. Good times. -

Update on my 255 55 R19 DuraTracs: I've been rolling on the recommended 38/42 PSI since I had them installed, and they've felt super soft and marshmellowy the whole time. Just cranked 'em up to 45/45 and the difference is remarkable. Quite a bit stiffer in the ride. A marked improvement... -

I like that idea, I'll give that a shot. Speaking of shots, a few more from this morning. If nothing else, the tires look great and make the truck look a lot less like a grocery-getter and more like a LAND ROVER. -

Had them installed this morning, and picked it up at lunch. On my quick test drive, I can confirm that they are definitely a little mushy in the handling. I'll probably get over it pretty quick. They look great, and they're not loud. More pics and thoughts to follow. -

I'm at 20k on my Conti's, and there's a good chance that I'll ditch them early. I was considering a winter/summer rotation until these DuraTracs came along. Now I'm thinking I'll switch to the DTs and run them full time. -
