Never trust a mechanic, they're worse than used car salesmen, if you did not purchase the parts yourself from an LR dealer and watch the parts go in then you have no proof he used/bought LR parts. -

I have been using Maxbrakes on all my cars for the last 2-3 years with zero issues. Very minimal brake dust, no pulsation and they catch impressively. Even my wife noticed the brakes are sharper. Just had my water pump and crossover pipe done at the dealer, I intentionally had it done at the dealer to avoid this kinda issues. I think moving forward who ever needs to replace their water pump and crossover pipe should at least buy the parts from the dealer since they have the most updated... -

I have cut open a few of my oil filters as well and they usually look pretty good on the inside but i still go ahead and change them with every oil change. My fear is not knowing after how many miles it would start to disintegrate. -

The cheaper ones might have issues but for me i always buy their top grade which is the ELITE cross drilled and slotted rotors(Black) and the premium ceramic brake pads (grey/blue). -

Idler Pulley replacement
Just replaced my idler pulley, the one closest to the passenger side air cleaner box. The old one i took out was completely shot, I tried spining it and it was hard to spin and noisy. It probably would have failed in the next few days if i hadn't replaced it today. Check out video below. -
