Since all the modules are on CAN Networks, once a door is opened they all turn on.
The red light in the hazard switch will let you know if the vehicle is asleep or not.
The vehicle has to have all the doors closed for it to go to sleep.
Do need the lights to work in the LR4?
You can use a battery disconnect that has a remote fob.
Usually, on the rear mains seal leaks you would see oil coming from the weep hole at the front of the trans.
Looks more like a valve cover gasket leak.
The trailer wiring probably caused your problem.
I would remove the added on harness.
The brake lights are controlled by the Body Control module via transistors.
When these transistors detect a short, the will shut power off to that circuit.

The sprockets fail due to poor machining of the housing. There's a weak spot at one of the fasteners.

Your vehicle has a "saddle type" fuel tank. So, fuel is siphoned out from the left side and dumped into the right side.
The fuel pump is on the right side.
When the fuel level is low, the fuel sloshing around can cause the pump to cavitate.

These reservoirs have three "compartments" . One is for the hydraulic clutch, for vehicles with the manual transmissions.
They probably didn't suck all the old fluid out of the reservoir before doing the flush.
That type of failure to the cam sprockets are not uncommon.
A rattle on cold start ups that goes away after a few seconds is an indication of eminent failure.
I really don't see metal flakes in the oil.
Maybe change the oil a couple of times every 500 miles.

When I do the trans pan.
I remove the transfer case crossmember, the right side motor mount nut, the air intake tube, and the upper fan shroud cover.
Jack the motor up from the right side, this will give the room needed to remove the pan.
That connector is for the battery saver module. Used during shipping.
The battery saver module is removed when the pre delivery inspection is performed.
