Any Experience with Texas Cars Direct?

I can buy you something wholesale from the factory sale here near Detroit if you're from this side of Canada.

    Disco 3 Cruise control

A few months later, now I verify that our LR3 downshifts to induce engine braking to slow the vehicle while coasting down a grade where mass and gravity otherwise conspire to accelerate the vehicle, but I still don't know about with cruise control on. (It's very flat around these suburbs, and...

    Automatic battery protection?

Don't our cars have control over lights left on so to turn them off before the battery drains? All my recent Audis have this basic feature, even lesser cars. Wife's car had a little "issue" today.

    2005 vs 2006 LR3

There are 50 LR3s going up at the factory sale here in Detroit this week. Good 06 SE V8s run under $20 with low miles. Where do you live?

Using Terrain Response to Improve Gas Mileage

Ugh, techboydino just reminded me about that cr*ppy winter gas and its worse mileage. Another reason to look forward to winter!

What brake pads do you all recommend?

I compiled others' descriptions of the procedure (still only $17 incl. 1st class postage!) Make sure you put the wear sensor onto the left hand side inner pad. The wear sensor has a small brass contact spring that fits around it. This was stuck into my old brake pad, and could easily get lost...

What brake pads do you all recommend?

Midas - I'll comment no further on using such a place. In any case, the pads are cheap, it's the labor that you pay for on any brake job. Buy better pads, get better performance, and have a good foreign car independent mechanic do the work. I'm not aware of any lifetime that covers labor and...

Lookiong to buy an 06 LR3

if certified costs only 2k, gets you more than 2 years after the warranty expires and you plan to keep more than a bit more than the factory coverage, you win. Repairs are very costly, very much so.

    Alignment knowledge, need some help

But, are they putting the car in tight tolerance mode first? If so, the dealer will charge for that hook up service. I don't need an alignment now, but will keep this in mind. We do business with Belle and get a discount, too.

    19" Tire Advice

Bridgestone catalogs a tire, but not yet available. Toyo HT tread (not AT) is what I got. I have no comparison on this LR3, but the Toyo's aquaplane resistance does not really impress me compared to lots of tires on other cars, including wide high perf ones. No winter experience yet. Quiet...

    Alignment knowledge, need some help

Long Response, desriptive Uneven tire wear. The steering alignment geometry of certain vehicles may experience some bushing settlement during early vehicle life. Following initial production geometry setting, this settling may alter the geometry settings outside of normal tolerance, which...

    cooper LTZ owners

I don't think they yet began production on the Bridgestone, probably. The $200 per tire range is not growing. The $300 plus is not growing, still Pirelli and Goodyear, two of my least favorite brands based on terrible OEM fitments in the past.

What brake pads do you all recommend?

smart to DIY. Really, my independent did each axle (having just done another 05 that week) for 1.5 hours labor - you would plotz if I told you his low rate - plus my parts.

Memory Seat Upgrade on '06 LR3 SE

Good question - I know how to get you a powered lumbar kit or heated seat kit from an OEM vendor, but this would be all factory parts, I presume. Maybe a junked HSE? Keep us posted if you learn more, but I would start by asking a dealer if they can do it - then you'll know if you can DIY!

What brake pads do you all recommend?

What brake pads do you all recommend?

Wagner's sister company is the OEM supplier, and Wagner pads are available in the US for less than the OE. Also, Monroe makes pads for LR3. These are two options not normally considered, and try RockAuto.com in addition to the specialty AB, etc. suppliers. (ask me if you can't find a 5%...

need a 2006 SE? - not mine, not an ad

lots of them running through the Manheim sale in Detroit on July 30, very low miles and all colors, under $20 - I know, dang. If someone needs such a car, I can hook you up with an honest buyer at that sale at no obligation. J
