OIl Leak - top of engine

Happy to help. Honestly, you could probably get away with just replacing the o-rings and Teflon seals; instead of replacing the injectors. It will buy you time to save for when the injectors do go bad. You'll need the following (just my recommended parts): 4 x LR037089 Baum tools...

OIl Leak - top of engine

The oil filter housing gasket is a easy job and is part number LR010735. If youre convinced that is the source of the leak I would just execute the repair. As Paul mentioned, it might be worth taking a harder look at the valve cover gasket. The repair manual directs you to apply RTV sealant to...

    Clunk/knock, starting to get concerned.

Driveshaft carrier bearing? It sounds rhythmic to me. If it's bad enough it may have enough slack where low speed movement would be more noticeable that high speed. Changing from horizontal to angled also changes the load on the transaxle. So, could be ujoints as well.

    Disabling 2014 ECO Switch

Well, there goes that idea. What about a pass-thru setup? If you connected the positive and negative cables, after removing the small battery, maybe it would not throw a light, but the start stop would also would not function because it lacks the proper voltage?

tip of the week. Coolant level sensor

There is also a sensor in the rear cross over pipe (heater manifold), but that obviously doesn't help when one of the front components lets go. I think the best option is a head or block mounted sensor. It would be the most accurate way to measure increased temperature related to a...

    Disabling 2014 ECO Switch

Not sure to be honest. On my to-do list is removing each of these fusible links and reinstalling the block (sans links) to see if that removes start stop without throwing a light. Since the feature did not work on my wife's LR4, I'm guessing that one of these burned out.

    Aluminum crossover pipe

Was trolling the jaguar forums, planning my supercharger removal, and found out that the 5.0 SC XFR had an aluminum crossover pipe. Has anyone tried to fit this on the 5.0 LR4? I found the top piece on eBay, but the bottom "y" is aluminum as well--evidently they are hard to find...

    Rijidij Rear Tire Carrier

Very interested! Can you share a picture? How annoying was running the wiring? Thanks, brother! https://rijidijoffroad.com.au/products/discovery-3-4-swing-away-wheel-carrier/ I got it right from the fabricator. Took about 6 weeks to receive and was about $1300 (shipping included) after the...

    Rijidij Rear Tire Carrier

From inside, you can see that rear visibility is a little restrained, but not too bad the backup camera works well (passenger side view is essentially blocked, but that is what mirrors are for), and the parking sensors still function Overall, I'm very happy with the product and word be...

    Rijidij Rear Tire Carrier

Since I finally got the fuel issue sorted, I finally installed my rear tire carrier. It fits pretty tight to the body, but with enough room for recovery gear to mount From the rear, you can see that it sits pretty high, but that is to ensure that it does not interfere with the backup...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Great insight, and thank you for the quick response. The knock sensors were never mentioned in the jag forums. So, I'm happy you brought it up here. I was also thinking about the metal bar setup, but it seems like you had success without. I too am just trying to get better access to the rear of...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Yep. Mine looked the same. Good catch! What method did you use to get the supercharger off? I saw a couple in the jag forums, but would like to know what worked best for you.

    Time for new injectors?

Final update. Leak down test came back clean. Injector 3 & 5 replaced, codes are cleared, and she runs great (according to the indy). I'm picking it back up this weekend and highly optimistic! Evidently, injectors can be replaced without removing the supercharger. So, I'll replace the other...

    Time for new injectors?

Update #12.5 Towed to a better Indy outside of Nashville. My wife was tired of my tinkering.... They completed a compression test (all above 175) and spark / coils check out. Leak down test is running overnight. If that comes back clean, on to the fuel system... if not, we get to pull the...

Big LR4 issue, cut losses and sell vs fix?

Also, replace the passenger valve cover. Not just the gasket. Its part number LR109354 and comes with the gaskets and bolts. That way you won't be replacing it in the future when the pcv fails.

    High Pressure Fuel Pump Question

So, even though the two intakes merge at the throttle body and combine the air before entering the intake runners (ecu can't tell which air molecule is from which air intake), each MAF controls the A/F mixture for that respective bank? If that is true, I have more trouble shooting to do...

    High Pressure Fuel Pump Question

I will tell you that I started researching this because of a rich bank. Bank one's LTFT showed over +30% which means that the ecu is adjusting for a lean condition. Since each HPFP feeds one bank, my symptoms may suggest that the passenger side HPFP is no longer sending the requisite amount of...

    High Pressure Fuel Pump Question

There are two. Was actually researching this last night. You'll want the tappets too and the service manual states to replace the high pressure fuel line when swapping out the pumps.

Big LR4 issue, cut losses and sell vs fix?

I guess I'm confused on how the fuel pump failure knocked it out of timing. Yes, they are can driven, but theoretically the tappet should protect the auxiliary cam from skipping. I can see the vacuum pump causing a misfire condition due to the escape or introduction of unaltered air and...

    Supercharger Rattle?

@timc930 how many miles are on your wife's 2015? If over 60,000 I would recommend replacing the passenger side valve cover while the supercharger is off. It will be more work, because you will have to remove that bank of injectors, but I think you would be more annoyed if you had to pull the...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I'm sure I went overboard, but: - removed the frame horns - reshaped the splash guards with a heat gun - re-routed the rear passenger coolant lines - cut and folded over the seam welds in the rear wheel wells - installed the proud rhino SYA kit

    Time for new injectors?

Yes, sir. There is spark. I am starting to think that this weekend is going to be smoke testing and multimeter testing intensive--i now hear a hiss under idle. Suspecting the vacuum pump based on sound location, but have not had time for further review. I will say, that if I have to pull an...
