    Blinking headlight

Having a similar situation on my 2012. My son pulled in the driveway last night and I noticed the drivers side headlight was out... After dinner I went outside to check it out, and when I started the car, it worked fine. This morning, when he went to school, the light came on when he started...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Good to know. I need a new ac compressor... So, if my radiator needs replacing I'll do it before I fix the ac.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Thanks guys... Will grab a UV light and take a look. F1racer - did you end up replacing your radiator? txfromwi - Thanks for the cooling system images. Curious where you got those?

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

UPDATE: I am still leaking coolant from somewhere... I just haven't figured out the source. It's strange because it is inconsistent and there are no signs of leaking or dripping from the engine... block valley is dry, front of engine is dry, back of engine is dry, hoses and connections are...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

At this point, it looks like the genuine JLR (FoMoCo) pipe solved the problem. I've driven it a good bit and the block valley has stayed dry, and the coolant in the expansion tank has maintained the same hot/cold levels since the bleed procedure. Looking back, the top mounting hole on the pipe...

Wait... Are you the guy that made the video?

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Great callout on the oil cooler pipe engagement. I watched that video at least 10 times before doing this job, and had it playing on my laptop during the job as a reference. The detail this guy provides is phenomenal.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Yes. The one I purchased from Atl Brit did not have the FoMoCo marking on it. I don't think they were being misleading; I think I just misinterpreted what I was purchasing... Again, I purchased over the phone, and when I purchased the Genuine LR Waterpump & oil cooler pipe "Kit", I mistakenly...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Well, we are about to find out. Just installed a new front pipe I bought from the dealership last night. Currently in the bleed process, and driving short distances to make sure it is not leaking. Before replacing the pipe, I did a pressure test on it, and my endoscope showed coolant slowly...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Not mentioned previously, but I purchased the new version of the water pump, oil cooler pipe and o-ring... all genuine LR parts.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

After driving for a little while, its leaking again. Looks like a pressure test is in order. Hoping I can do that while the intake manifold is raised up enough with all the coolant lines still connected so I can see what is going on. Can't really get the endoscope far enough in there to see...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

I made sure to clean the holes out before installing the new one. I know that's not the issue.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Agreed. I thought I purchased the genuine LR pipe from Atl British as part of a kit they sell, but apparently the water pump and oil cooler pipe were the only genuine LR parts in my order... I purchased over the phone, so maybe I wasn't clear, or the guy misinterpreted me. Will probably be...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Opening bleeder valves, full heat front and rear, running engine at 3k rpm for a bit... Then driving it and checking tank levels often... Rinse repeat. Also checking tank and radiator hoses every morning when cold. If I keep having issues, I will prob be looking at the vacuum fill/bleed tool.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

The saga continues... About a hundred miles after installing the new water pump, oil cooler coolant pipe, and crossovers, the damn thing puked up coolant all over the valley, and front of the engine again... I assumed the new Y-Pipe failed, so i took it apart again, and could not find anything...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Honestly, you may be on to something there. From my limited experience it seems the only way preventative maintenance on these things is cost effective is if you can DIY most or all of the work. Otherwise, you're right, its a money pit. I am learning, in all seriousness, that owning one of...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

I looked at the old pipe and it had FoMoCo stamped on the side.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

My guess, based on how it looked when I took the pipe off, is that the o-ring got stuck on the edge of the hole when they inserted the pipe on one side (maybe they didn't lubricate it with coolant?). So it did not seat properly, and was stretched/pinched for its 30k mile life in the car, until...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Good point. I'll look at the old pipe again, and see if there are any markings or numbers on it that may tell me where it came from. If I see anything, I'll report back.

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Not specifically listed in the receipt and not worried about it at this point... I agree with your assessment though. I realize people need to find ways to shave costs in this challenging economy, but that's def not a part I would replace with anything but a brand new OEM part... but that's...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

The one i just replaced only had 30k miles on it. Previous owner had it done at a shop... Not sure it was done correctly though, based on the fact that one of the seals was significantly larger than the other... strange. Goes to show, they can fail at any time though....

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Posting this for those that want to see what a broken front crossover pipe looks like... (on mine anyway). After all the research and videos I found on this topic, I did not find any pictures of where/how they break. I have only heard where the pipe seams separated on the rear crossover...

    Diagnosing AC Trouble

For that temperature, your low side pressure looks correct, but your high side does look a little low..... Have you confirmed the HVAC blend doors are in the correct position using the gap tool? Regarding the hissing, my research tells me some hissing is normal when you shut the car off...

    Diagnosing AC Trouble

Reviving an old thread... Hope you guys are still around. To the OP, did you ever determine if it was just the compressor? or a combination of things? I am experiencing the same issue, where the cold air turns cool/warm for no apparent reason. Sometimes I can cycle the ac off/on and it...
