    Transfer case seals

Really sorry to hear this. After you are done, you'll be able to start your own Land Rover transfer case repair shop.

    Diff breather, should I bother?

Both the transmission breather and transfer case breather are located in the engine compartment between the engine and the firewall. I don't know the exact location of the rear diff breather, but I would imagine it is located close to the rear diff.

    Diff breather, should I bother?

I have the new breather cap on my front diff vent. What I think is strange is that both the transmission vent and transfer case vent are also in the engine compartment, but neither have a cap. They are simply tubes that go upwards and then have a downwards bend.

A new twist on EAS problems....

Could it be something with the compressor temperature sensor? The colder temperature may be helping the compressor not to overheat.

    Cracked Dash Options - Dashmat

I believe LR updated the steering wheel design. My 05 steering wheel started gumming up after a few years. I had it replaced under warranty. The one I have now is perfectly fine. Maybe there is a tech bulletin regarding this?

    06 LR3, High Compressor usage

I should mention that I always remove the compressor with the mounting bracket, unlike how the gentleman in the link did. There are three bolts that attach the mounting bracket to the frame. Getting to the top bolt is a real pain, but it's doable.

    06 LR3, High Compressor usage

Here is one link that explains how to remove the compressor: http://tinyurl.com/otlpo8j In my case, I opted to open the dryer and remove the desiccant. Just remove the screws on top of the dryer and carefully disassemble. No special tools needed for this. There is a spring inside but I don't...

    06 LR3, High Compressor usage

The compressor in my LR3 is about 4 and a half years old. I refreshed the compressor dryer a few months ago, and I immediately noticed a difference; the compressor wasn't running as long when I started the vehicle. The refresh basically involved removing the desiccant from the dryer, using a...

Yes, reinstalling does take time as well :( Just a reminder, when installing the input seal, do not press it in all the way!

    Transfer case seals

I disconnected the breather tube before lowering the transfer case. After reinstalling the transfer case, I reconnected the tube blind, meaning I used my hands to guide it in. As for the front output shaft, I think you are referring to this picture when you refer to the one with all the...

    Transfer case seals

I did initially try putting a jack under the transfer case or transmission, but found that it was ridiculously in the way, particularly when you are trying to slide the transfer case off the transmission. Without support, the transfer case does sag slightly, but it was a risk I took. Once the...

    Transfer case seals

If you haven't already done so, I recommend disconnecting the front and rear driveshafts. Once the torx sockets are removed, you'll have to compress the driveshaft (it has a sort of CV joint) and push up on it. It will slide up and out of the way, but it takes some work. I sometimes wedged a...

    Transfer case seals

You do not need to drop the fuel tank. For the nuts on the side that cannot be seen, I wedged in a socket wrench that had a flat handle. The socket wrench kept the nuts from turning, and I then used a breaker bar to turn the bolts. A word of warning, this is a time consuming job! Also, I...

Help me end my tire troubles

I have the Dynapro ATMs in 265-60-18 and I am very happy with them. Slight increase in road noise (I have sensitive ears), great on road, and the handful of times that I have taken them off road, they've done well. They have almost 40,000 miles on them and still have plenty of tread left. I got...

    "Ghost" suspension fault?

If your suspension compressor has not been replaced yet, I am guessing it is starting to die. You might be able to "refresh" it and prolong its life. The dryer desiccant material becomes inundated with moisture and starts crumbling with time, making it difficult for air to move through the...

    Sunroof Leak/Water Ingress

The drain tube on the front right hand side is behind the fender air intake. Remove the plastic grill, remove the rubber scoop, and then remove the foam behind that. But if the drain tube is truly disconnected, the issue will likely be in the a-pillar.

    Transfer case seals

Earlier this year I went off-roading and drove through a fairly deep mud pit. When I exited the pit, there was a strong odor that I thought was transmission fluid. Later at home I looked under the vehicle and discovered that the transfer case front output seal was weeping. I had driven slowly...

Key fob not working. Wiring in door sill?

The wire in question is on the US passenger side. There is a door sill in the front with the Land Rover logo stamped on it. To remove this, start on one side and pull straight up. The sill is attached by metal clips. Continue working your way to the other end of the sill. Under the sill is...
