    Moab Trail Advice

There's a pretty decent video from Cruise Moab 2011 showing most of the obstacles on Hell's Revenge up on the homepage at Expedition Portal right now. At about 1:15, you can see "Tip Over Challenge" from behind the windshield. Looks steeper than I remember! http://www.expeditionportal.com

    Moab Trail Advice

ndrenfro, I ran Poison Spider Mesa in my LR3 during the 2010 National Rally, along with 2 other LR3s that were in the group. We also ran Hells Revenge with pretty much the same group. My truck was the "middle" truck in terms of modifications among the LR3s. I did not run Golden Spike or Gold...

    Power Steering Issues

Update... Update on this, in case anyone is interested. Dropped the truck at the dealer on Monday night, and yesterday they let me know that the lower steering column needs to be replaced entirely. They said that the u joint is siezed (like thorgal mentioned). I figure since its under warranty...

    Power Steering Issues

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'm going to try to give the dealer a call in the morning, since it seems like it could be something rather involved. I'll try to make an appointment sometime in the next few days, and in the meantime try to lubricate the steering column as noted. I'l let everyone...

    Power Steering Issues

Thanks for the reply. The truck made it all the way home without any other problems, so it doesn't seem like anything too major. How was the steering pump job? Difficult? Expensive? I'm covered under extended warranty for a couple thousand more miles, but don't know if I feel like taking it in...

    Power Steering Issues

Hey all, I'm on the road back from a trip to the Outer Banks, and I've got something odd going on with the power steering. As I turn the wheel, it seems to "stick" through certain areas, and gives considerable resistance. It's pretty much like steering a car that doesn't have power steering...

Hey Ralph, Yeah, it was a pretty quick decision to move, and I ended up leaving in the middle of ski season (booo!). Glad to see you are still getting out with your LR3! Thanks for the well wishes. Paul

I've done the south end of the trail as well, at the 2009 National Rally. Here's a pic looking down on the trail from the dead end the jesus_man mentioned: Couldn't have asked for a better day to be there. I feel like this end had the tough creek crossing that drops down into the creek...

Yup, but the last time I was there (2010), there was a gate that prevented you from getting any closer than this: Super fun trail. That long water crossing is actually even longer than it looks in the photos. There's also a fairly deep crossing, with a large-ish boulder in the middle of...

Boaz, That looks like it might be Halfmoon Gulch...I believe this is the same water crossing, looking the opposite direction: Seem right?

    LR3 Roof Rack Opinion

Charles, Well, I haven't put anything on it yet. On my previous rack, I carried all sorts of things, including firewood, off road equipment (hi-lift jack & shovel), jerry cans, and luggage. My plan for the Bajarack is to use it for pretty much the same stuff. I've got a couple of decent sized...

    LR3 Roof Rack Opinion

I just installed the standard Bajarack on my LR3, and so far I'm pretty happy with it. The build quality seems good, I'm able to walk around on it without much deflection in the rack, and it seems to have plenty of space for anything I could want to carry. It's also damn quiet, and still allows...

The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out so far. Unfortunately, living in Pittsburgh now, I don't have as many opportunities to get out with the truck as I did living in Denver (it's a combination of too few places to go, and way too much time spent working). I do, however...

Hey all, Haven't been around in a while, just super busy with a new job and moving, etc. over the past year. I've only managed to take one trip with the Rover in the last 12 months, to Adirondack Park: Now that we have settled in a bit more, I've been doing some work on the truck that...

How to remove a Tow Hitch?

Hey guys, Sorry for a minor highjack here, but I've got a related problem. After leaving my tow hitch on the LR3 through a decent portion of a Pittsburgh winter, the lock froze up (lots of salty crud in the locking mechanism). I found this thread and followed joecool's instructions...removed...

    DIY cargo basket

I 100% agree with the above post...weld everything. I actually fabbed my own roof rack for the LR3 about 5 years ago when I got my first one, because there just weren't many options on the market. I still have it on the roof of my newer LR3, though I don't love it. I wish I would have made it...

    LR dealers in Pittsburgh.

Any ideas on where he will be working/living? I'm in the downtown area, and would be happy to meet up and show him around, let him get a close look at a modified LR3, etc. I moved here from Colorado, and am also very much an outdoors person. Unfortunately, it's been raining almost everyday since...

    LR dealers in Pittsburgh.

hello, I don't have any specific dealership advice, but I live in Pittsburgh and own an LR3. I recently had my 60k service performed at an independent mechanic called Jagspeed Motorworks and am quite satisfied. So if he does end up purchasing, there is at least someone reasonable available to...

    From PA

Hello! I'm a Pittsburgh native who has been living in Denver for the last 7 years or so. I'm moving back to the burgh for work on February 10th, and wanted to see who else is around. I've got an LR3 that has seen a few thousand miles of off-road use out west, and hope to continue to get some use...

    Remote Key Problem...help?

Is it possible that the battery in the remote could just be dead (or no longer accepting a charge at all)? It charges while the key is in the ignition. -Paul

Nope, no rear locker. Just traction control and a steady foot. I was aired down to about 24lbs all the way around, which is a little more than half of what I usually run in those tires on the street. Seemed to work pretty well. It's an obstacle called "The Wedgie" on Poison Spider. -Paul
