Consider this when looking for a used LR3

Taking my 06 SE7 4.0 in for final warranty service tomorrow. Only 43K on the clock but the 4 years runs out end of the month. I bought it in Dec 09 from a LR dealer (non CPO) at 34K miles. I have had zero issues or problems since purchased. It has been a great truck and I plan on keeping it...

    CPO, worth it?

I purchased a 2006 SE last December from a LR dealer. This was a non CPO with 32K on the clock and a year left on the factory bumper to bumper warranty (expiring next month). The dealer had it stickered at $25,900 and I paid $22,000. They also included a 100K powertrain warranty. I have put...

    LR3 Spare Tire Winch Problems?

Damn. Belle Tire just busted my armrest and scratched up the interior near the jack access trying to figure out how to stow the jack and tools properly. I better check the spare tire winch as well since they are paying for the armrest.

    Ambient Temperature Guage

06 SE. Actually, mine isn't mounted exactly as the pic indicates. There is no bracket. The harness is attached by some ties but in the same location across the top and in front of the radiator.

    Ambient Temperature Guage

Hmmm? Mine is right there. Easy to see thru the grill.

    oil leak ?

Honestly, it's really pretty straight forward. Like others, I use a floor jack and piece of wood to hold up the skids plates while removing the bolts. Once those are off, filter and plug are right there. Search the forum for other tips (extra big recepticale, etc).

    Factory crossbars

That's exactly why I go with the Thule rectangular bars. The LR3 footpacks are nice and secure on the factory rails and I've loaded hundreds of pounds (lumber, etc) on the Thule's without a flinch. I have sets for the kayaks, safari rack, etc. Way less expensive also.

    oil leak ?

Man, that's irritating! So much of that goes on out there. That's why I do the oil and other basics myself. I realize that not everyone has the time or inclination to do so but when I'm done with the job I KNOW it's right (and for half the price). I am really glad tha't all it was for you!

    Oil change

Shouldn't be a problem. Two skid plates to remove with lots of bolts, make sure they are all put back. Also good idea to replace the plug seal washer. Doubtful they would have that though. I change mine myself, fairly straight forward.

Will I need spacers switching to stock 19" wheels?

That's my plan. I got the 19's absolute mint for $350. Time to start searching the threads on tires. Thanks for the input.

Will I need spacers switching to stock 19" wheels?

I have an 06 SE V6 with the stock 18" 5 spoke wheels. I am looking at picking up a set of stock 19" HSE 6 spoke wheels (5x120 pattern). Will I need spacers or will the 19's bolt right on? Thanks for any knowledge on this.

    LR3 Body Panels & Exhaust?

Agreed. I am in Michigan though and they put a lot of salt on the roads here in the winter. Not quite sure what "aluminized" means. A coating I suppose. My system looks fairly good overall, what I am mostly concerned about are the joints and hangers. Those look to have more than just...

    LR3 Body Panels & Exhaust?

Nice deal on these parts. I love the disclaimer "Not Stolen".

    AUX. Input HELP?

Perhaps you can access the jack from behind and push the broken plug out. You could also just replace the jack itself depending on how "modular" it is. Remove the auxiliary socket panel. Release the 2 clips. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.

    Looking for OEM Wheels

Obviously, Craigs List and eBay. These folks do custom wheels for Land Rovers and are always taking in OEM wheels on trade: http://nitrousgarage.com/ There are many other shops out there like this. All they want to do is sell the trade-ins quick. Good luck!

    LR3 Body Panels & Exhaust?

I've seen the all SS aftermarket exhausts for around $1,200, lifetime guarantee. Seems like the way to go. I am wondering if anyone on LRW has had to replace an exhaust yet on their LR3?

    LR3 Body Panels & Exhaust?

Can anyone confirm if the LR3's stock exhaust is stainless? Also, I came across a listing for a used stock hood and it indicated that it is aluminum? I presume the balance of the sheet metal is galvonized? Just wondering.

Excellent deal on these genuine LR parts

Just turned 40,000 mi on my 06 LR3 SE V6 and in anticipation of the first brake service I found several really exceptional prices for OEM parts on eBay so I thought I would share. I have no affiliation with these sellers and all parts came within 3 days directly from LR dealers: Front Rotors...

LR3 Oil Change - Anything to watch out for?

The LR3 is one of the easier vehicles to change oil on, in my opinion. In fact, I just did my second change this morning. As others have mentioned, large catch basin is a must (made that mistake my first time, no spill but damn close). After draining but before I reinstall the plug I always...

Factory Trailer Wiring Harness Install Help

Factory Trailer Wiring Harness Install Help

Best deal by far is the OEM kit from BPUtah - $95 : http://www.bputah.com/LR3/Land_Rover_LR3_Trailer_Wiring_Harness_YWJ500220.html As far as the install goes, very easy overall. The holes for the center 2 harness clips must be on top of the bumper structure as mentioned. No way I am...
