I have 48,000 miles. Have to decide before 49,000. Truck is 2.5 years old. I can add 3 years and to 100,000 miles for a little under $4,000.
Sounds pricy, but I am sure LR3 repairs will be pricy as well. I am sure I will stay with the truck as I have the winch, rock sliders, and a little...
So I decided to speak to the service manager. I told him that I have about one of the most used and abused LR3s he has probably seen. However, I have owned many luxury vehicles, like Audis, etc., and none of them has ever had the steering wheel start bubbling after 2.5 years, or 7 years for...
My dealer is telling me that the steering wheel is only covered for 12,000 miles as it is "trim." Any one else get this line? I am sitting in the dealership right now.
Yes, there is. Search for it and you will find the procedure. Unfortunatley, it only works until 2 minutes after you turn the engine off, so it must be done each time you get in the vehicle, but it comes in handy.
Here you go...
The $500 option for the full sized spare and rear locker is the biggest no brainer in the history of the world. The wheel and tire is almost worth the $500, and you get the locker for FREE.
A non locked LR3 will try to use the brakes to achieve the same thing. Which do you think will...
Did your sensor go off? Have you seen the pad? Twice i have been told that I was in dire need of pads, and there was a little less than half of the pad remaining.
When the sensor went off, I had quite a bit of pad left. However, just be aware that the sensor is only on one pad.
I also listen to AM, and have the intermittent resonance problem. The first few attempts at the service department resulted in "we couldn't duplicate the problem."
Since then, I have grown to accept and love those rattles and hums.
As luck would have it, I also blew my sidewall on Poughkipse of my trusty Wrangler HPs. I did have a spare spare with me, however.
He blew the sidewall of a Cooper? By the way, about half the trucks in our group made it up Poughkipse, as did an LR3 on another day.
And just who might that be?
I defy you to find the dent in the door just above my brand new set of sliders...
(when we put the plastic trim piece back on, it turns out that the dent is completely behind it and not visible whatsoever. How lucky is that?
Yeah, I did the Stoptech brake upgrade for the track. The S4 modded as I had it is so fast and heavy that the braking requirements are obscene, especially if you carry every bit of speed into the corner.
And, as for the rotors go slotted if you care about brake performance, go drilled if you...
It is a fallacy that upgraded brakes will improve stopping distances unless the factory brakes are really really really crappy.
I upgraded the brakes on my Audi S4 for the track to Stoptechs, which are very much like Brembos.
Any decent brake can apply more braking power than the tire...
For the front, you need a 13mm and 17mm spanner wrench for the front and a 15mm spanner for the rear. The problem is that you need the wrenches to be narrow. I haven't been able to locate "spanner" wrenches at any auto supply store, so I just ground down the wrenches on a grinder. I just used...
I changed my brake pads twice myself. The first time at around 20k, the rear sensor came on. Dealer wanted $850 just to do four pads. I think it was in the high $200s for the 4 pads and was a pretty easy install. We just needed to file down some wrenches because I don't have spanner...
