Tail light problem
If it's the fuse, B/4 you replace it, check your glovebox light for a broken plastic mount. It may short to the dash randomly, mine gave me fits B/4 I accidently found it was blowing fuse #8 -- disconnected plug= all good luck,greg -

I was kidding about the insurance, the CEL or check engine light. I thought yours was on based on your "not ready codes" for your o2 sensors & cats I'm going to look back over thread & dig up something. Are your o2's are 4-wire or 3-wire? luck,greg -

W/P - Sorry for jumping in late, it's my understanding that the ECU has to relearn operating parameters based on past running history vs. now. The older vehicles such as ours (mine's '97) generally check emissions(the o2 sensors) @ idle & wide open throttle. not in the normal driving range... -

Overheating
Have you checked the routing of the serpentine belt? It's easy to install incorrectly & will result in water pump running backwards. I'm not wild about hard upper hose when warmed up - I'd let it warm up with cap removed from top of radiator & watch for bubbles indicating combustion gases... -

help regarding fan temp switch
Are you talking about the fans in front of the radiator? (a/c condenser fans) They run when the a/c is on. The activation switch mounts to the condensor tubing. The stock engine fan is not electric and has no thermostat switch. (A viscous clutch coupling) When I installed twin electrics... -

was it the same exact MAF? I've changed back & forth between RR & D1 the (3) MAFs I have & not thrown a code. (they're all identical) I can't imagine JUST changint the Maf would cause it to throw the code, but as I said, if your old one was dirty, the new values sent to the ECU may have pissed... -

I can't say for sure, but I believe that I'd try driving a good distance above 2200rpm & see if that blew out some of the crap. There's tips for cleaning up your intake, but I'm sorry, I can't type faster than you can search the forums for it in fact I can't type luck, greg -

You can sucessfully clean the MAF on D1's Buy specifically MAF cleaner - I've done my '97 D1 & my '96 RR se Worked great Don't shock it, let the MAF & cleaner get to room temp, (although cleaner will spray cold) & let MAF dry well (2-3 mins. ) b/4 using I believe the ECU has to relearn... -

I'm puzzled that your check engine light is not on, but my guess is that one of your O2 sensors heater wires (they each have 4 wires to them) has either broken or shorted. The poopy part is it might be an intermittent fault. This causing the sensor to be "not ready" if it's not ready then... -

Hmmmm- My guess is the ECU got a heads up on an oxygen sensor heater circuit (shorted heater wire?) only once. If the ECU sees it again after multiple starts it would threw a code & turn on the "I hate you" light. Or the light's burned out Joey's correct re: the abs light. & It could be...
