Thanks. The mechanic mentioned that as the car comes with non-synthetic oil, he prefers NOT switching to synthetic oil. Also, he has experienced leaks and starting sound issues with them. -

Very good analysis. Thanks for sharing and good luck w the recovery. I just called costco and for the 2007 LR3 HSE, they recommended a Group 49 battery. But they donot carry it. They do carry the Group 35 but suggested that I donot buy it. Any issues w using the Group 35? -

Will it cause any issues in the LR3 if I coast in neutral gear for a long time?
I live in the hills of San Gabriel and the freeway is about 3 miles downhill. So I decided to put the neutral vs coasting to test. While driving in neutral for 80% of the time for the 3 mike journey, I got 26mpg. While driving in D and coasting with no foot on gas for 80% of time, I for 22mpg. -

Guys - thanks a lot for your inputs. The battery had discharged down to 33/800 as my husband had forgotten to switch off a reading light. AAA jump-started the car and I drove it hard for 40 minutes and the charge seems back to normal. Lesson learnt: Make sure all lights are off for this... -
