    Overlander Question

I wouldn’t say I’m in the majority, but also don’t sleep on the number of people who buy these and immediately have to drop $10k because their motor crapped the bed. This forum is full of those stories, so buyer beware. I want so much to like this thing but the wife absolutely hates the fact...

    Overlander Question

Get the 4 Runner Land Rovers are complete piles of poo. Stuff constantly breaks. And they aren’t that much better than 4 runners to begin with + you’ll end up spending as much in repair costs. Plus, you’ll spend every other weekend fixing something.

I’m going to hop over the the Jag forums and see what they’re using. Same engine so I assume same CPU logic

Oil in Intake Manifold - Smoke on Startup

I’ve toyed with the idea of a catch can system. Jag guys run them, so maybe that’s the route to go on these engines ‍♂️

Oil in Intake Manifold - Smoke on Startup

It looks exactly like the smoke in Last Cause ranch’s video and smells like heavy soot from a refinery. It’s def oil. It’s pouring into my intake manifold. I ordered the PCV valves this morning, should arrive tomorrow for install.

Oil in Intake Manifold - Smoke on Startup

Lately I’ve been noticing a bit of smoke on startup. With a Reman engine & no history of overheating, I figured something else was the cause. Today I had some time, so I removed the intake plenum & inspected the throttle body. It’s somewhat clean (cleaned it two months ago). When I...

    Low Coolant Light

The saga continues… It still has a small amount of residual pressure in the morning after sitting all night. Not sure if there’s still air lock or what. Edit: bled properly and issue has been resolved.

    Loud HPFP

Should the HPFP make significant noise? I’m worried about mine failing as they’re pretty loud IMO but have nothing for comparison.

When is it time to say goodbye?

I will say that in my experience and seemingly others reading countless threads here is that the LR4 will plague the owner with minor issues constantly. Not sure why hubs fail so early on these, as they use quality parts. Same for drivetrain. It’s odd to me. Potentially neglect? I...

When is it time to say goodbye?

I purchased it because the dealership represented it as a 1-owner that had over heated. They claimed to have pulled the engine, stripped it down to the block & had a VERY reputable local machine shop clean up the block & heads. They also claimed to install new internals - pistons + crank, etc...

When is it time to say goodbye?

But, on the bright side I’ve got a couple more PM’s to do & it should either fetch a premium or I’ll drive it for another 150k.

When is it time to say goodbye?

With the cost of the reman engine I had installed a month after purchasing my LR4 I could’ve paid cash for a decent 100 series. (LR4 cost me $15k & engine + cooling system + compressor, air springs & hubs cost me $15k)

When is it time to say goodbye?

IDK man I wish I never bought this POS to be honest. It was my dream car but after owning one it’s been a nightmare. Chunk the junk and get a LandCruiser IMO.

    Low Coolant Light

Took it to the shop that remanufactures and installs engines (Ronda Used Auto Parts - Houston, TX). Ali checked it out and pressure tested it. Heater core and rear heater core have slight leaks. So slight they’re almost unnoticeable and potentially draining through AC drain lines...

    Driveline Vibration

The bushing on the center carrier hearing isn’t separated but it is sagging considerably and there is play. I’m guessing this is the culprit? Ordering the JXB, hopefully it resolves the issue.

    Driveline Vibration

I started inspecting brakes & wheel bearings. All seem good to go. Front end has some play on passenger side from steering rack, but that was a prior issue and hasn’t worsened. 0 play in either CV up front. Front driveshaft has 0 play. Rear driveshaft has some play, could be due to...
