Whats up with the lifetime Auto Transmission Fluid?
BMW uses the same ZF transmission as the LR3. They have defined "lifetime" as a fluid replacement every 100K miles. Without a drain plug, it needs too be siphoned out. I don't think anyone is suggesting to "change transmissions every few years" as you are asking above. -

Old NAV issue re-visited
Sounds like part of the "charm" of LR ownership to me ;) I also have a 2005, but no history of an overheating Navi unit. Is it the Navi itself cycling down, or the dvd drive or just the display screen? -

BMW/MINI have a great online website too - every part for every model. Haven't seen one for LR other than at a body shop. Perhaps at the landrovertechinfo.com website? -

Like Houm said, these occurrences are rather typical. I get this when the weather turns colder, with a newer battery. A reboot clears it. As long as it isn't happening frequently, I do not get concerned. Keep us posted on this one! -

It's an automatic transmission. Isn't a tachometer kind of pointless? I doubt that the ZF Transmission Control Module would allow breaching the engine max RPM. Anywho, I'm not close to my LR3 or Owner's Manual at the moment and can't answer the question, sorry. -
