New LR3 owner Too many faults to count need help

The symptoms you describe are consistent with the need to replace the battery. If you have the original from 2005, it is now due.

    Rattling

+1, you should definately check this as the possible source. There is a pivot bolt in the D-pillar where the rear hatch struts attached. Make sure they are tight on both sides.

    Another tire question...

I also just installed a set of the 19" Michelin Latitude HP's about a month ago. They are a bit of a compromise IMHO. Definately very quiet and roll nicely on the highway as you have stated. Also, non-directional tread allows for additional rotation options. However, the sidewalls are...

    LR3 Rear Window Support Arms

Yes, this is a common issue, and agree that it can be a safety issue too and LR could be handling it differently. There is a pivot bolt in the d-pillar where the rear hatch struts attach. It has threads, and screws into the d-pillar. This bolt can back out over time, causing the right side...

    Catastrophic Trans Fail

Oh crap, sorry to hear that. Some similar reports over on Disco3. You may want to search there. Example: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic40023.html?highlight=transmission+failure+fault Is it at LRWC? Keep us posted.

    LR4 Reviews

The buttons (and interior) on the LR3 don't bother me at all. However, I do recall the initial reaction from a friend, who noted that the central console resembles an ATM machine

    LR3 Alignment

There is a specific procedure required due to the electronic air suspension (EAS). I've only done this particular service with the dealer. Sure, you can save a few bucks at the local tire shop; but for me it isn't worth it, considering the cost of the tires if not performed properly.

    LR4 demo video

Looks like LRNA took a bunch of shiny new LR4's out for a drive for a press event. I won't comment on the driving  YouTube - On and Off Road Land Rover LR4. 09.22.09

    Roaring noise

Agree about the cooling fan as a possible source - definately makes a "roar" noise while operating. Not sure about the lions, unless you were driving past a zoo ;-) Or maybe the roar of the crowd when driving past a stadium? Keep us posted...

Cool, I get the first post!

Congrats LR4Rover! Looks like the "old" folrum still has some useful insights: http://www.landroverworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16220

    Sticky front seat backs

Make that +3 for Lexol. I use it once or twice per year (cleaner then conditioner). No problems The LR3 seats are perforated leather, and I've always thought they breathe rather well. We've taken several long distance (12 hour) drives without issue, even in summer.

umbertob, you rock! Thanks for the link. :) Recently started noticing the "small but detectable seat rock" on my 2005.

    Windscreen Replacement

I guess it depends on where you live. I live in the mid-Atlantic area, and my window heating element stopped functioning last year. I just used the "traditional" hot air defroster and it works OK, but not as fast as the electric window element. As a side note, my dealership could not...

    More LR4 Pictures

The 2010 LR4 has a 5.0L V8 (375hp) where the 2009 LR3 had a 4.4L (300hp). The 2010 RRS non-sc also has the 5.0L with 375 hp, where the 2009 RRS SC had 390 HP from a 4.2L V8. Most of the power gain appears to be from added displacement.

Has TATA Brought Gaudy to Land Rover? Answer: Yes

I'm sure that the LR3 bling from the accessory catalog, and the updates which went into the LR4 were all in the works long before LR was sold to TATA.

    scratch on plastic

That dealer price is crazy. Try a body shop instead. I had the left/front replaced for under $100 (hit a deer and broke it, along with one headlight). Edit: Just checked the invoice from the repair. Part was $41.78 and 0.4 hours of labor to install. This was in 2006.

Soon to be Land Rover owner-few Q's

FWIW, the 2005's are fine too. They've had all of the fixes and updates applied via recall or TSB (EAS compressor, fuel tank, alignment, clock spring, software, etc).
